I read somewhere on copyblogger.com that the subject line "You Are Not Alone" gets the highest email open rates. I wonder, do you guys think that is consistently accurate, and do you know any other good generic attention grabbing lines?

Well, it got me to open this thread; but that was just because I had the feeling it would be an "inspirational" thread better suited for Mind Warriors. I can say that personally, generic subject lines do not get me to open. I want to know what I am about to read, and being vague/cliche just wastes time that I don't have.

Of course, I cannot speak for any market in general. I am just one person. Maybe it works well for everyone else.

Nevermind, it was only Michael Jackson's last number one hit song, certified platinum, and more memorable for the clip with a semi-nude Lisa Marie Presley

Surely I was not the only one singing the chorus on the way in to this thread.

perhaps it was the best title for opening emails or threads when the song (Michael Jackson) was popular,I placed an add years ago using the title of a very popular song at that time and it got the most answersof any ad placed in that newspaper ever and still holds that record todate.

Bad News. There are no absolutes in subject lines.

If a large portion of internet marketers used that subject line simultaneously tomorrow it would be the largest single day total of unsubscribers most autoresponders would have seen in this niche.

There's good, and there's better. There is no best.

I never thought about writing ads that way, it would be an interesting thing to test out.

Just "you are not alone"? with no other context? I guess maybe many would open it out of curiosity.. but unless the rest of the content is inspirational or has some kind of religious overtone, I'm not sure you would keep them on the site very long..

You Are Not Alone?? You Will Never Walk Alone (Liverfool).. ?!

Oh man, I mistaken this thread for a liverpool fan page.. Well anyway, yeah I will definitely open an email with a title like this, no doubt..

NOTE to all email marketers, please don't start sending your promo email with a title like this, I don't wanna receive 5 - 10 emails with the same title tomorrow.

Haha, I'm just kidding, but seriously!!
