Sales Letter Graphics - Effective or Not?

Ive been thinking about designers who create sales pages like

dayjobkiller
blackmaskadsense
etc..

heavy graphics

And I mean on one hand they look nice, original and such but on the other hand they dont really look that professional. Dont get me wrong..they are excellent designs but they dont really have that corporate look which might appeal to a more mature audience.

Meaning a professional looking page to me is something like

xsitepro

It might at first appear bland as it doesnt have jazzed up graphics, splatters, nifty stock graphic merges

But, its professional looking and very effective.

So...

What do you think???

When you create products do you make a point to seek out sales page graphic designers who can over jazz things up

Do you look for someone who can give a LESS IS MORE professional look

or

do you stick with the plain old.. White or Blue sides white middle sales page?

I try to make mine look like they fit within whatever niche they're in. If I have a product that markets towards businesses, I'd use a bland corporate design, while my products which target kids (well, parent's of kids really), are more bright, colorful and snazzy, and very heavy on graphics to get the kids excited and running off to get their parents to buy. Depends on what you're selling.
