Best Wordpress theme that has it all?

Hey everyone,

I'm pretty new to these forums but have been stalking around the forums for some time now... guess it's time to build an internet community presence as well. Anyways I found a lot of great information the past months here and have definitely sunk my teeth into a lot of great information. In fact I just finished Marc Ostrofsky "Get Rich Click" book and found to be very motivated in pursuing internet marketing as another form of income.

Besides that tiny intro I was just wondering if there is a certain marquee wordpress theme that a lot of people use when they create their niche sites. Themes that already have adsense placed in a high click rate area, a plugin that makes it easy for them to place their amazon affiliates store somewhere in the link portion, etc. I'm definitely interested in making a few niche sites and have been doing my research on keywords and what not.

Anyways, if anyone has some information that they can shine on me it would be great. I'm not much of a programmer guy and was wondering if I should just buy one of those $25 blogs to start me in the right direction.

Any help is always great!

Thanks,

Bran

Bran, if I'm correct you want to use internet marketing as a second source of income. However, you are not sure yet what you want right?

There are several things you could do:
    • Look on this forum or outside the forum (Big G.) for high ctr adsense wordpress themes and build a niche site around high paying keywords
    • Look for a salespage wordpress theme such as optimizepress and others and sell a product on a specific niche

Make sure you sell them a 'second glass'. Capture their email, follow up, give, give, sell. How about a membership site on a specific niche?

But before you start make sure you have a clear goal in mind. Why do you want to create these blogs? Do you want to make a quick buck or do you actually want to share helpful information on a specific niche (I can tell you that the last one will make you a lot more money).

    Goodluck!

I agree with OptimizePress. Also if you are looking for a good theme with a lot of customization you can use Thesis.

    Hey everyone,

Thank you for your information and encouragement.
I'll definitely have to look into OptimizePress!

As of I right now I'm definitely trying to find that niche that I too am also interested in so I can post high quality articles and make a stable fan base. As great as making money sound, at the moment I'm actually very interested in creating a strong community/following which I can later translate into sales.

As everyone have said, OptimizePress. But I will also advice you to check out PageLines. I have the PlatformPro and Framework developer account and I love it. Also the support is outstanding.

The purpose of OptimizePress is to help create squeeze pages, not even sales pages.

What you want is a sleek Wordpress theme, which is good for Amazon products, if that's what you prefer to sell.

Thesis can work great, but you can find some good free minimalist themes. Although it takes time, there are some different ones. Everyone has a slightly different taste.

But remember to remove all the distractions in a standard theme, leave it clean and simple. BTW it's a pain to find themes which have a custom ad box on every blog post, like for Amazon products.

    Now, this is a problem.

Interesting. Thanks for all the great feedback guys!

I am actually interested in incorporating Amazon Affiliates to my site as well.
Just yesterday I was browsing around the products for sale and I came around Verena's $25 blog and they seem so neat and elegant, it just sucks because all the blogs she has are all watered down niches these days....

Still trying to find that right niche though!
Been doing a lot of research about keyword tools and have found that Jeremy Wilson's Tutorial on how to find niches to be a huuuuuuuge help in trying to find out how to get the best match possible!

Anyways keep the posts coming, any insight is great.

I wanted to chime in with a newbie perspective... I debated this myself recently and bought Thesis. It wasn't exactly what I expected. So far, it seems that what you can do easily within Thesis can be found in any number of free themes. If you want to do something more advanced in Thesis you need to edit code. I don't doubt Thesis is powerful but I bought it because I wanted to do gee-wiz design without editing code. I'll chalk that up to my fault for not evaluating the product better but I'm going to stick with it since I've paid for it. I strongly considered Genesis and OptimizePress too. There is another product I've come across recently called "Product Skin" from ThesisIsAwesome.com that looks like it might make Thesis easier but it adds to the cost of Thesis.

How about the new Socrates 3.0?
I'm diggin' socrates these days because it gives me a bunch of great off-the-shelf setup items but still allows my programmer to customize what I need without having to customize 5 different places. Some of those themes out there are very limiting and tough to customize without going through heroic measures.

If you are new to coding and creating web sites then you should think twice before you get Thesis.

It's true that you can do a lot with it.

But before you get a working site you'll feel like throwing yourself down the stairs.

Look in the Thesis forum. It's full of people bemoaning their fate and desperate for a lifeline.

Nice suggestions, but kindly note that there specific themes for specific sites, especially adsense (you could also include for Amazon, if you will eventually get there). The theme you select is suited for your own particular need. Where you place your ad, the size, and the way it blends with your other content all contribute to what you eventually choose. Find out more about adsense themes.

    Aloha Brunsun,

It's either Optimizepress or Profitstheme for me Specially if you are gearing towards eventually building your list, launching your own products, etc, these themes have great features that will make things easier for you.

I have made most of my sites (and membership sites) using both themes.

+1 for both OptimizePress, and Thesis.

(OptimizePress for sales, etc, and Thesis for blogging)

They will set you back a few hundred $$$, but it's money well spent and saves a lot of trial-and-error.

I use Profits Theme (similar to Optimize Press). I also use Catalyst extensively and Thesis on a few sites. All are good... you can achieve any look with Catalyst & Thesis... even get the functionality of Profits Theme/Optimize Press with a plugin for the opt-ins and squeeze pages (WPSE is what I use).

If you can code then Thesis... if you cannot then Catalyst (but both need an additional plugin for squeeze pages.

The only problem with Profits Theme and Optimize Press is they are not having responsive design which makes them not so mobile friendly. Catalyst and Thesis do have responsive design.

Just type "Blogging themes" or "Squeeze Page" themes into Google and you should find loads of ideas and choices you can check out there.

Also Optimize Press is an all rounder when it comes to creating fast squeeze pages, sales pages and lots more.

When it comes to Blog themes you could look at the Thesis Theme as it looks fantastic once you set everything up on it.

    Good luck with that Bransun
