My site should EASILY be on 1st page of Google

I have a niche website that SHOULD be in the number one spot on Google. There's hardly any competition for that keyowrd but my site is nowhere to be found. My site pops up when Googled, but when I search by keywords it doesnt show up.

After the first couple pages it starts getting irrelevant and shows sites not even related to my keyword but my site is nowhere to be found! I know it's buried in there somewhere but I should be on the first page or second page at least because I'm like the only person selling this item online. But I got a bunch of unrelated sites probably hundreds or thousands of pages before mine.

I have plenty of content and my landing page is good. That doesnt make any sense to me. How can I get my page on the first or at least second page for a keyword that has very very very little competition?

Back links and SEO optimized pages are the things that will get you ranked. Back links are the most important but you must optimize your pages as well. You can use Web 2 and social networking to get backlinks. If you are stuck for time, there are people who will do it for you....you pay them.

Yes you need to optimize your content/articles as well as text on home page, etc, etc. I asked the same thing here a few days ago and then I optimized my pages for specific searces and within two days, I'm on fron page of all the major search engines. Does it help? yessssssss because I've had three clints put in orders.

How old is the website? Is it indexed by Google? Try doing this in the google search box:

    site: www.yourdomain.com

If it shows up, then it's indexed.

Try putting your link in your signature on this forum, it will get indexed quickly by Google then.

If your site is brand new, then give it a few weeks first!

Perhaps you are in supplemental index, or maybe you are even pushing to fast, driving to much links to fast. Try adding about 5 links per day, no more, also drive those 5 links to all of your pages not just index page. Use original content!!!

Does Google even know what your site is about? Try using this tool to see what your site looks like to Google:
    Lynx Viewer

This tool will give you an idea about how the spiders see your site. When you look at your site with this tool, can you tell what your site is about? If not, then Google can't either and won't rank you for you might think you should be ranking.

One more thing...if your site is the only site for your niche as you say, then backlinks are irrelevant at this point (as long as you are already indexed - and you said it was). Increasing your backlinks will only help you jump over related sites (as far as SE results are concerned), but you are saying there are no related sites.

How long has it been up for? Sometimes you just need to give it a little time, some links, and the next thing you know you're up there.
