Hi,

Just on the way from the thought of writing this post of how I deal with time consuming distractions, to actually getting started, I had to eliminate several distracions similar to.
  • Make $100K in 44 Hours
  • Get a Gazillion Visitors Just By Blinking Your Eyes
  • How I get 13.000 Email Subscribers Each and Every Day

.. and the funny thing is, I wanted to read them all ... it's crazy that there's just no immunity developing over the years for headlines like this, I still fall for them.

Why?

I just don't know.

So ... how do I deal with this, because nowadays I actually don't let them drag me in and consuming much of my time, I make sure to get out of there ASAP.

My solution to that problem is:
A very good bookmarking structure combined with a good habit of using it.

I don't know about you, I have 10+ browser tabs open at any given time so I have to clean up very often, closing the tabs i.e.

Every time I have to close a tab, I'm to scared to just close and forget about it because I might need it later on.

In my earlier days, this made it rally hard to work, but then I found my solution, a very good bookmarking structure that allowed me to bookmark like a maniac, and I do just that every single day.

So, if you got a similar problem ,consider to have a really good bookmarking structure that allows you to bookmark every little "good" thing you find but probably never will need. Get the **** out of there fast is my solution.

Hope that helps someone :-)

A simple but useful tip - having too many tabs open can really kill your productivity. Best to save that stuff and read later at your leisure...

Very important to be disciplined and keep work time strictly for work.

Thank you for sharing this useful tip but I agree with Noel too, I save the stuff and read it later when I have time.

Suffer a little from this problem too. 1 tab = Few distractions within. 10 tabs = You can imagine heh

Having dozens of tabs open at the same time has been a habit I've been trying to break since having multiple tabs became an option

I finally manage to only have five or six open at any time, but it can still be quite a distraction. Though I've noticed that it's better than the stress of not even being able to read what most of the tabs are lol.

If you find something that you know you will absolutely want to read in depth at a later time, copy the link and paste it in a notepad file so it isn't beckoning you name all day long. That seems to work for me!

      Whatever works I say ...

But before the tabs came I had multiple browser instances open so the bad habit has been there since a large amount of RAM became cheap I think :-)

Tab status Right Now: 9 Open

      Stay Organized :-)

    Agreed!
now I use Diigo and bookmark these "very interesting but i'll never use" tabs in a category that I called "Food break" and just read or watch them while eating or relaxing.

I also use Session Buddy for Google Chrome (the best browser). This allows me to save sessions and restore it any time I want. If you don't use Chrome then start! As soon as you do, download Session Buddy and enjoy!

Sounds like some interesting extensions to Chrome. I do agree that Google Chrome is the best browser and it's so much faster than the alternatives.

I log out from my gmail account and websites such as the WarriorForum, etc., and I have found that this works great when it comes to increasing my productivity. As a rule of thumb, the less stuff that I going on at the same time, the more productive I am.

    That is a good idea.

You can also try using something like Evernote to keep track of all those links- I tried but then got distracted doing something else.

That's a good solution! It's similar to what I do.

The one thing that also helps is to identify the next ONE skill you want to develop. (ie: YouTube traffic generation; Facebook Ads; etc.) And then ONLY check out offers/blog posts related to that. Everything else should be dumped into orderly files. The only time you check out these links is when you're ready to learn more about that particular subject.

This is the system that I use to avoid going crazy from the gazillion offers I see on a daily basis.
