Because of all the great advice I have been receiving on here lately, I am really considering promoting some books via amazon on my site. I have only promoted one clickbank product through my site up until this point. It is nearly $50 and I think I may be missing out on some customers who would pay for something less expensive. I will continue to focus on the clickbank product, but will add in some reviews of physical books. I am already signed up as an amazon affiliate, but have not done anything with it. I have some questions:

1. Is there a way to get the authors contact info???? Do they ever give review copies out? ( I can't afford to go buying a bunch of books to review, but would like to promote something I believe in.)

2. The amazon site is soooo confusing compared to clickbank. Any suggestions on where to begin??

3. I have seen people with a bookshelf of amazon books they are promoting, I looked around a bit for this and could not find how to do it?

4. With the small percent made, will promoting books via amazon even be worth it?

5. If I want to promote a book through amazon to my list, how do I go about this? I was told that amazon won't allow an affiliate link in an email....if so, what is the best method to use? A review page on my blog?

6. Any general tips about promoting through amazon would be great. My site is in the signature if that helps.

Thanks again for all the help! This site is a blessing .

I really think that it's very hard to get a decent income from Amazon with such low price items like books.

I would go for anything up from $300, or not even bother with the product. It's a numbers game and therefore you need to increase the commission you get every time.

Don't think that it's much easier to sell books for people who are very concerned about spending money compared to people who like to spend $100's on high-end stuff.

    Cheers,
    Ray

I am just looking to make a little extra off of it. I know it won't bring in a ton of money, but any is better than none .

I am a top reviewer on Amazon and am constantly contacted by publishing houses and individual authors for reviews with offers of free books. I am also a Vine Voice and Amazon sends me goods to review. These have ranged from pots and pans to electronics and of course lots of books.

Though it is hard to break into the top reviewers or become a Vine voice, you can do some quality reviews on Amazon. Then you can contact publishing houses and share a link to your reviews (hopefully people have rated the reviews as helpful) and express an interest in reviewing books. You may be put on a list and sent emails with books available for review.

In the past, I have also contacted authors, and requested review copies of books I am interested in and have never been turned down.

As far as selling books as an affiliate, no they don't usually command high fees at all and you have to hope people buy something else. However, you could add accessories to your site such as Kindle readers (competitive so drill down), reading glasses, even comfy chairs to read from.

    1. No. Unfortunately anyone who makes it into print is probably a pretty important person and hence difficult to just reach. I'd say review copies are out of the question, but you can always have other writers who have read these books review them for you.

    2. It's not that confusing. Just log in to Amazon associates, then browse as normal and there should be an image in the top right corner of your screen that says generate a link for this page. Get the bare link by pulling it out of the HTML unless you want the Amazon image as well, and you are good to go.

    3. Not sure, but I know what you're talking about. I believe it's a custom display feature in the back end somewhere.

    4. Think of it this way: you have a gigantic market of limitless books and authors plus high conversions and trust from Amazon.com. While you may not make much per sale, you will have sales for sure.

    5. Eh. I would just provide them with a quick one paragraph review in the email then a link to Amazon.com. No need for such an advanced presell. Remember, Amazon will help you with good reviews on their site as well.

    6. I wish I could help you more. I am more of a Clickbank guy honestly.

Thanks I had not that about having others opinions on the books. Now I have to find people who have read them . I may be able to do that on some of the niche forums. I agree about the review in the email, but another person on this forum said that you were not allowed to put amazon affiliate links in emails????? Thanks!
