This is a huge opportunity and the right warriors will be dearly rewarded for taking action. Tons of furniture stores across the US are relying on furnituredealer.net to start a furniture business, and are paying THOUSANDS a month for shared hosting, and what is worse, they don't even have full control over their websites! Someone I know is paying thousands a month for hosting with these guys, because they have a huge database of furniture items available, that can be pre-populated, to create an instant furniture store. The worst thing is that each individual site owner, does not have complete control over all the pages on the site. Also you should see the fees all these sites are paying extra for integrating sliders, social media, and other simple features. Also if they want to make any changes, they have to contact tech support and wait 2-3 days, so the customer support isn't the best. What is even worse, is that this provider does not have an API or a way for furniture stores to tie it into their inventory software. As a result, a lot of customers are upset, because items say "in stock" online, that are sold out. Also the pricing online and in-store are never 100% accurate, since you have to change each price manually. There are a lot more drawbacks to this system. What really surprises me is that all of the furniture stores share the same server! I would suppose that for paying thousands a month, they should at least get their own server.
This is a huge opportunity! All you need to do is be able to create a WordPress theme, that will be dynamic enough to look good for a lot of furniture stores. It needs to work well with excel so that they can import and export inventory as needed, and in real time. The current furnituredealer.net software they all use does have an "export to excel" option. All of these websites are using this one provider, and I know for a fact that the system has limitations.
Check out all the furniture stores on there, find one near where you live, talk to the owner, and try to come up with a good replacement. Once you figure it out for one furniture store, you can scale it up to a lot of these other ones. Even getting 5 furniture stores will make you at least 10K per month. This is no easy task, but for the right warriors with the right technical knowledge, this should be a good challenge.
