IM - Mission Statement.

Hi Warriors,

Since there are always new people joining this great forum and quite often they're in the muddy haze surrounding the mass of IM detail, I wanted to throw up a mission statement that could act as a jumping-off point for people just starting out. Feel free to add to this.

**Andy H's IM Mission Statement for new Warriors**

Success in life only has a few basic rules.

Those rules apply to IM as much as they do to achieving anything you aim at in your life.

You can go in to the details of the rules and create a lot of sub rules but fundamentally you only need to keep the core rules in mind.

These are:

1 - YOU are in control of your success.

You do NOT need anyone else to tell you what you should be doing!

In fact, the opposite is the case. No-one but you is qualified to truly understand what is best for you and in accordance with your higher purpose and dreams.

If you don't like the situation you're in right now, the only way out is to create what you want in its place.

Many people get into IM out of desperation and to escape bad things (debts, relationships, jobs etc.) and while IM is indeed a great way to approach creating something new and getting away from bad things is a powerful motivator - it's not enough to get you your version of success.

Just driving away from a burning house might be the best way to survive but to live fully you need to have somewhere to go. Living on the street is better than staying in a burning house, but it's not the way to build a successful life.

So, getting away from bad things is not the same as creating what you do want.

This means that while you should celebrate your first $100 made online - this is just the beginning and does not mean you WILL create massive income. If your vision of your online success is 'just to make any money' you're not likely to make great money.

Only YOU can control the way you think about your success and the thoughts and beliefs you have about succeeding.

Treat your thoughts as though they were things. Like seeds which when nurtured will grow into their potential tree or plant.

Everything starts with a thought - every product ever made was first a thought and was brought into reality by someones belief in that thought.

If your thoughts are negative or focus on what you don't have - THAT is what you will cultivate.

No-one else can put your thoughts in place for you and build the belief which you're going to require to make them real.

If you want something to happen - YOU are going to need to take charge of it and be willing to do what's required to make it happen.

If someone says "I'd give anything to be rich" but then spends their spare time watching football - it's obviously not true.

Your actions follow your thoughts and beliefs, so they're where you need to get things straight.

When you start to take action you need to be in the place where you're not prepared to accept failure and that you have reason to believe success is on its way.

If you don't feel amazing and positive about your success - it won't happen.

If you're doing things you don't believe will work, or that you know won't have the potential to make your dreams come true - Stop and rethink your plans.

2 - Success has to be fun.

There is no such thing as a 'work - life balance'.

Life is life.

Any time you spend in your life is personal and should be as fun as you can make it.

You don't have to be miserable or sacrifice happiness to get success.

In fact, you will be most successful while doing things that make you happy.

Don't defer your life for some happy goal later. It's fine to have long-term plans, but the only time you have to live your life is now, so now is where you should be getting the juice - the happiness and everything else you want for yourself.

The only way to have a happy life later is to start being happy now and keep that the focus all along the way.

Making money does require work, sometimes a LOT of work - but that doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable and fun.

When you make your millions - then what?

You should create your success by doing things you enjoy, so that when you are successful and financially independent- you don't want to stop. The money was just a by-product of you living with the right focus.

If you're not doing the things you need to NOW for your dreams to become reality, and for those thoughts to grow into reality - they're not going to happen.

Whatever has happened in the past bares no relation to what is possible for you in the future.

Often the most successful people are those that have been through the toughest times and have come to appreciate success all the more because of it.

Your life is not just about you. Ultimately your choices will be selfish but becoming a happy, positive and successful person will change the lives of everyone around you too.

There's no time like the present - and in fact, the only time we have is the present. So if you're not doing the things needed to realise your success now - they're not happening.

This is a simple rule but so powerful it's amazing.

3 - Working Online does not mean working alone.

While you are the only person you can rely on to make your dreams come true, the most fulfilling life you can have will be the one that has you enjoying the richest relationships along the way.

There's no point becoming financially successful if there's no-one to share it with.

Working with others is an important way to leverage other peoples skills and dreams to support your own in a win-win way.

If someone loves creating amazing graphics and you suck at making them - it makes sense for you both to get what you want and both prosper.

When you start an online business you may find you need to do everything yourself just because of your limited resources, but this should be considered a short-term thing.

There are only 24 hours in a day and only one of you, so while you're doing everything yourself you're operating in a fundamentally limited way. Plus you'll create better quality products and services by having other people with the right skillsets doing what they do best in a way that supports your goals.

Making money doesn't have to, and shouldn't be a struggle. It can and should be fun.

When you work with others and create success - it's a much richer feeling than just doing it alone.

Even if you're working alone, the time you spend and how much you enjoy it will affect the relationships in your life, whatever they are.

When it comes to making money online, there's a reason that it seems like some gurus promote each others stuff - they do - and why shouldn't they if that person is a friend.

If you make money and a friend at the same time, why wouldn't you want to do it again?

This is just common-sense.

Don't think you need to do everything yourself, and don't think that doing everything yourself is the best way to anything.

You know that to have the love of your life you need to be open to meeting people and to the chance that they might be that special person. When your business choices come from the same place, you can end up with some really great friends who started off as affiliates, customers, partners etc.

4 - You get out of your business what you put in.

If you're doing IM in a disassociated non-passionate way, that's what you'll get from it.

If you're passionate about what you do and you love doing it, talking about it, sharing it with others - this will make a massive difference to how others feel about your business (and you).

Be the person you would like others to be.

If you use yourself as example of what you love in others, like a magnet people like you will find you.

5 - You have everything you need.

If you've been putting off starting for some reason - quit procrastinating and make your plan so simple that you simply have no reason not to get started right now.

You can learn along the way and add things to your plan to ramp it up and leverage resources, but NOW is the only time you have to get started.

You can make things so simple that there literally is nothing to stop you.

If you're tech savvy enough to join this forum and make a post - you have the skills to start making money already.

One action is worth a thousand noble intentions.

If you have confidence problems - no problem, you can sit at home alone and create your success without anyone else being involved until you want them to be. You can choose to work only with people that support and encourage you.

Have money problems - no problem, you can start for free.

Have time problems? - no problem, there are a lot of people who want to do the things you need done for you.

All of the above? - no problem, start small - just start now.

The only thing stopping you from succeeding is the list of reasons why you can't.

To your success.

Andy

    Hi Andy,

Very wise and insightful, and of course very true. I have printed a copy of this
and will refer to it often.

It is so easy to get lost and bogged down in the small things that one often
overlooks the important principles. This is a great guide to follow!

    Thanks very much!

Thank you Andy. I printed it out, too. Negativity breeds negativity. What an insightful post!

Andy, your post helped refine a line of thought
I've been developing since this morning, as I'm
reading Stephen Covey's "The Eighth Habit".

It's along the distinction between "success"
and "significance", a fine point Covey makes
      early on in the book.

      Thanks for sharing your mission.

      All success

        Hi Mani,

I like that book - I love the way he coins new phrases - like 'knowledge worker' - understanding the significance of individual knowledge and desire for higher sense of expression.

Thanks for another excellent and insightful post Andy.

"Only YOU can control the way you think about your success and the thoughts and beliefs you have about succeeding." You've really got a knack of getting right to the heart of the situation.
