eCommerce keywords just as good as html web keywords?

Hi

Ive built my website using an eCommerce package which i pay monthy. Its an online gift shop.. I can type in keywords for each page using the built package, do you know if this helps my google ranking or is it only best if you build the website using html or does it not matter?

Website only couple weeks old, not started ppc campaigns which i will set up this weekend but for organic searches on google and my ranking is it ok to put these in using ecommerce?

Will i still get a good ranking using ecommerce?

thank you

I can't guess what their built in keyword package is about, at any rate I hope you have access to log files that show the actual keyword searches that are bring visitors. Having unique text other than the standard manufacturers descriptions can be important, an introductory paragraph for each page or category may be helpful, a blog or series of How To articles can get you more keyword matches as well.

Search rank competition for stores is fierce, having unusual niche products not sold by thousands of others can make ranking an easier process.

PPC is a quick way to lose lots of money if your sales pages don't convert well enough, some use a 1% conversion rate for initial estimates, meaning you mat have to pay for 100 clicks to make one sale, a 4% conversions rate for 1 sale every 25 clicks would be doing well. Even 50 cent clicks add up quickly. Too bad the nickle clicks commonplace in the early days of Adwords are long past.
