Some help needed with product creation!

Hello warriors ,

I have a few ideas for products I can create, but if I start making them I am never able to create more than 8 pages even though I have some really good ideas I think. Are there ways to make your content longer without boring the reader?

Yes I thought about this, but the only problem is that it costs a lot of money and I don't have a lot of money yet I am just starting in internet marketing and didn't make a lot of sales yet.

I don't think the length of the product is as relevant as what you are helping the end user with. There are a lot of 1 page products out there that people really don't have a problem paying 10-100 dollars depending on what's on the page i.e. getting tough stains or stenches out of carpet with things around the house or insider financial data.

I see you're offering some pretty decent information in your sig. Have you actually used it all? Seriously, if you can't get more than 8 pages maybe you should wait to actually acheive some goal before trying to teach others. Get some measure of success under your belt and then write about that.

You won't have to worry about your page count because the info will just flow. Why? Because you've actually had success at something and now you're telling others how to do it. Make sense?

Stephan, it's not about longer or shorter, when you create products.

    It's about problem/ solution.

You can create a great product that's eight pages long, as long as you give the buyer EXACTLY what he expects.

When I'm working with my students, I find that they're fuzzy on what it is they're creating. Therefore, I recommend that they create a sales page first, before they create their product. That gets them focused. :-)

It stops them thinking "I want to create a dog training product." That way lies madness. You could write 500,000 words and still not cover dog training adequately.

Instead, think: "I want to create a product for new puppy owners who want to integrate the puppy into their family fast. My product will be cover the puppy's health, his temperament, and his basic training in the first month he's with his new family."

    The problem: a new puppy.

The solution: turn the puppy into a happy, healthy family member in one month.

The key is to think in terms of ONE problem, and ONE solution.

Here's the benefit of this approach. When you think this way, you immediately think of the audience too -- who has this problem? Why do they have it?

The audience is your product's buyers. The bigger the problem, the more desperate they are, and the more eager they are to buy your solution.

Once you've found your problem, creating your product's easy. All you do is describe the problem, and offer the solution. How long the product is, is never anyone's concern. Indeed, your buyers will thank you if you keep it short.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

    Angela

And why can't you make more than 8 pages??

I like mind maps. I almost always use them before I start a project. I use yellow, lined paper (legal pad) because -- years ago, at a writers' conference -- I heard that yellow triggers more right-brain activity, and so you come up with more ideas.

For my current book, I had enough ideas for two pages... until I sat down and just sort of let my mind wander, filling in a mind map. I ended up with enough ideas for at least two, separate books. The current one (the content curation one) ran about 15,000 words.

I think a lot of it is scribbling down the ideas, and thinking about other things that are related to whatever-it-is. Then, when you have more than enough ideas, start writing.

On the other hand, I also agree that eight pages can be plenty. One problem, one solution, one product. If you can solve a significant problem for someone, even if it's only four pages, that can be enough.

The value is in the solution, not how many pages the product is.

Seems like you've got 3 options:

    1. Pay someone else to write it (takes money)
    2. Learn more and write more (takes time)
    3. Present your product in a way that sets accurate expectations; don't pitch a detailed master-course if you're selling an 8 page report (takes smarts)

Other than that there's no much you can do.

I definitely agree that more pages doesn't necessarily mean better. I rather get less pages with more condensed content. If you can help improve my business in 3 pages just as well as if it took you 30 pages I would rather buy the 3 page book.

Thanks everyone, this really helped me. I think I am going to make it into a video and also give them the short report so they can also read it. And I am going to keep it short because I now know that it doesn't really matter how long the product is so thanks

Absolutely. Insert relevant examples of the key points you're discussing (emphasis on relevant).

Honestly just create something... rather then thinking about how long, also do not forget, it's not about quantity but quality, your product should provide value to your customer, also your product should solve a problem that the customer is looking for.

also the best thing to do is just simply pay someone to write up your product. if it's mp3 or videos then just do it yourself.

I agree. page count doesn't show the value you provide. If you want to charge your customer more, don't charge on quantity but charge them on value you provide.

I wouldn't stress yourself over this problem too much.I would focus on quality over the amount of pages your products have.
