How does Amazon's cookie work?

When someone clicks your amazon link, a cookie is placed so if they buy anything you get credit.

But if they then click on someone else's link and buy something, will you get commission or the most recent person?

Yeah they recently changed it so if they click ANY links to amazon you lose commission.

I could be wrong but pretty sure they made it that way

This was a topic of concern a couple months ago because Amazon did a little rewording of their terms and conditions. There was a thread discussing the issue and below is a link to a post from the thread saying information directly from Amazon says that only clicking another affiliate link or an Amazon advertising link would cancel a previous affiliate link cookie. (There were a couple other posters that got the same clarification from Amazon.) So, if someone clicked on your affiliate link to go to Amazon, left, then went back by something like a Google search link or other direct link you would still get credit for any sales if the return is within the life (typically 24 hrs) of your cookie.

Amazon - 24 hr cookie becomes worse?

      Peace

Find something to enjoy about reality. It's not going to go away.

The most recent person,If they add the product to shopping cart via your aff link, you may still get the commission.

Yep the most recent affiliate link would get the commission unless they added that product to their shopping cart when they were on amazon under your cookie. Then you would get the commission for the item in your cart but the most recent will get the commission for the rest.

If someone visits your link and then puts a product in their shopping cart, the cookie will last for 30 days on that product (not just 24 hours).

I'm not sure how this cookie is affected if they click on someone else's affiliate link in that time period though.

It works just like most: the most recent affiliate to refer the user gets the sale; except, with Amazon, if the user adds items to their basket while still under your referral, you'll still be credited for those, I believe. The session lasts for 24 hours.
