A choice between two interesting niches - your opinion?

I'm confused. I have two niches that I'm interested in; forex trading and domain investing/flipping.

So I'm asking which would be more profitable niche? Domain flipping would be simplier but would it be profitable? Which would you prefer?

I have no experience about these niches. I'm just interested in them and ready to do a lot of research and build a valuable website. I just don't now which one.

Man, the forex trading niche is such a tough one, and there are plenty of much easier niches.

Domain flipping is easier, but why do you want to start with an internet marketing related niche if you don't have much knowledge already in it?

Do you want to create a product in the domain flipping niche or simply offer a service?

If you want to sell an info product, then I would research other niches, unless you are extremely passionate about these two, then it's another story.

Becouse these are the only niches I'm interested in. I would hate to write about fitness.

First I'd just make a valuable website with some affiliate offers in it but later I'd maybe make my own product and build a list.

I have no experience in either of these niches, but I echo the sentiments of above in that I imagine forex being very hard due to the insane competition from companies with huge resources.

For this reason, I would say you stand a better chance with domain investing/flipping. Still a lot of competiton, no doubt, but you probably stand more of a chance.

You have the right idea though, find a niche you are interested in and become an authority in that niche. Once you have the ability to create valuable content you just need a solid marketing strategy (hint my WSO ) and you are set with a strong foundation for your internet marketing business.

I personally don't have any experience in those 2 niches.

What I recommend you do is to do a keyword search to see which one has the least competition and go from there.

Just like Ray says there are a lot more profitable niches out there that not a lot of people know about. You just have to do some research to see which ones have the most competition and which ones have less. Plus, how many people are interested in that subject.

  • If I were going to choose between those two I think I would have to go with the domain/flipping because forex trading is really competitive. I am sure there is a fair amount of competition with the domain/flipping too. I just think that one would be the easier of the two to get going. I agree with your train of thought in picking a niche that you are interested in because it is hard to create valuable content if you don't have any interest in it. Good luck!

Without a decent sized budget, domain flipping not viable. Also you may need to hold them for quite a while. As a newbie you will buy alot of unsellable domains.

Yeah, domain flipping it is. Simmeons post made me wondering though that is this "the niche". I am interested in this business but I guess there may be same kind of niches with less competition and which are easier to monetize. Well, let's keep on researching.

Perhaps you should start with a niche that you know more about, especially one that you are passionate about. It is going to make your work so much more enjoyable.

Forex is highly profitable but very competitive as well as outlined by the other Warriors. It will take a while to rank your forex website and you need to put in quite a bit of effort to get good contents on the website.

I would recommend you go for a niche you have experience with or enjoy doing otherwise you could get frustrated and end up quitting after all the effort.

For example, if you enjoy online gaming you could do something along those lines as it will be rewarding for you at the end of the day.

    Good luck!

Both difficult and competitive to dominate in I would imagine for a newbie. Maybe try using a keyword research tool for a variety of niches you are happy with to see how many searches, strength of competition etc. It may well be time well spent.

You say, for example, that you couldn't write about fitness. What about food, or your favourite food, or your favourite sport. The list of potential opportunities could be quite large. Again, a keyword research tool will help to find targeted niches.

    Is Forex a niche?

Having not done any serious research into starting a site dealing with the topic before I can't say I'm speaking with absolute certainty here.

However.... From what I do know about Forex, the market is extremely competitive. Try doing a bit more drilling to find some sub-niches within this area that don't have nearly the same amount of competition.

Maybe find a specific area of Forex to focus on, becoming THE authority in that area.

Which ever site you choose to do, I wish you the best of luck, just remember that there is far greater likelihood of becoming a trusted authority in a smaller niche than a broad market.

      Thanks for answers, everyone!

I found a 4 words long keyword about forex trading. 10,000 monthly searches and 13,000 exact matches. What do you say? It's just kind of extended version of "forex trading" but it has not much competition.

There's two Youtube videos on the 1st and 2nd place and two pretty big sites on the 3rd and 4th places. None of them have exact match domain names though. Should I go for it?

The answer is both, but given that you know nothing about either of them, the answer is neither.

I recommend that if you choose to go into domain flipping that you do a lot of research into domains that actually sell and the best way to sell them before investing money. I'm sure I'm not the only one that bought a couple hundred useless domains before wising up.

As for forex, it's highly competitive and it's better to get into forex if you actually know something about it and can write on it intelligently. There's also all kinds of legal restrictions ... hosts that don't allow forex sites, Paypal restrictions, etc.

Choose a topic that you are knowledgeable in and a topic where you can offer something that no one else is currently offering.

Domain flipping is pretty competitive and Forex very competitive. Best start small. Perhaps with some reports, or ebooks with simple but effective stratagies.

    Hope this helps

I would say if you have competition in the niche then it is profitable. Try and pick the one that will bring in the cash quickest then stick with it until you get paid.

domain/flipping is the better of the two...forex is amazingly copetitive. But I must say your business model may be the deciding factor? Are you selling forex training or software as a IM business or as a actual investment business? Your strategy may dictates which one to go with?

I guarantee you that the FTC is sniffing around the Forex niche right now. I think a safer bet, if you are not already involved in the niche, is to steer clear of it for a bit ...
