You don't really give enough info to comment. Since you're a member of the War Room you should go there as you'll find two or three excellent guides on Kindle publishing. And.... they're freeeeeeeee!

      That's a loaded question!

My cost of writing, creating a cover, and everything else, for a kindle book is only time. I try to do as much as I can in-house.

You can find tutorials for covers and logos for free on the net.

So if you're willing to learn you too can go that route. If you don't have the time get someone on FIVVER to create your logo/cover. I have great success from covers made on FIVVER.

Well your question has a lot of variables. Number of pages ect... The cover alone can be anywhere from $5 (Fiverr) up to $30 (odesk, gigmaster ect) Some stuff can be done by yourself if one is willing to learn and take the time to get it just right. Also pics and graphs add time and cost to the total completion of the Kindle book.

First you need a list of what you actually need to outsource.

Probably an eCover is all you need, which you can get pretty cheap.

        What Ralf said... :-)

You just need an ecover. The cost? For good graphics, anywhere from $50 to $1,000 and more.

        Or do it yourself.

If you choose to do it yourself, buy a royalty free image at a site like Dreamstime. You can get a great image for around $10. Give yourself 20 minutes to add your text to the image, and you're done. You can use the image both as your ecover image on Amazon, as well as the cover of your image (add it to the file, in other words.)

If you're any good at photography, you don't even need to pay for an image. An 8 mega pixel cell phone camera takes a good image...

You're using Amazon, which is free, so there are no other costs.

Re legal. You agree to Amazon's terms, you don't have any choice if you want to publish there. :-)

Publishing with Amazon is as simple as it gets. It can also be completely free. If you choose to pay for an image, the cost is minimal... no hidden costs.

        Hope this helps.

        Cheers

All of this can be taken cared of by people on Fiverr. $15 max.

There shouldn't be a cost to sell on Kindle. 100% free.

I had to pay $35 for the copy right. Also approx $100 for proof reading using FIVERR editors which is good value for the money. Well, add to that $100 for diagrams - FIVERR again. I got a person on this site to do my cover. They wanted money from me. I wanted to pay after the job is done and I got a bad feeling that they might be a scam. FIVERR gives us a refund if the worker does disappear without doing any work for me. Always a good idea where using a new person. Total cost including advertising the e-book are over $1000 or more.

It really depends on what you plan to outsource and what you plan to do yourself.

Could be as cheap as $0 or cost you thousands.

One thing I highly recommend is to spend your time/money making sure your book is properly edited and formatted. There is a huge backlash right now from readers who have bought crappy books that have spelling, grammar and formatting mistakes. It ruins the reading experience and results in bad reviews for your book. (Obviously your book also has to have valuable content, but I assume that goes without saying).

The cover is also critical, make sure you spring for a good designer or think up a good design yourself. It can be the difference between no sales and lots of sales as this is what will most likely get people to click the link to your book sales page.
