Default Amazon affiliates in banned states

Ive noticed something rather interesting over the past few months. Many blogs that I frequent are run by people who have stated they live in one of the banned Amazon affiliate states (specifically in Ilinios and California) yet I see they are still making money as an active Amazon affiliate. How do you think people get around this and why would they make it so obvious?

It's probably because they have an llc registered with the IRS that was setup in a state not effected by said legislation.

They may have set up legal entities in states that aren't banned as previously mentioned, or they might be renting/selling links on their blogs for other Amazon affiliates.

You can have a legal entity setup anywhere, including around the world. They could've moved from/to a state that wasn't restricted. Lots of reasons. More likely they just don't care and an affiliate of any size doesn't account for .001% of Amazon's revenue, it's irrelevant.

You can use skimlinks or viglink, they take 25%... but you do get paid by paypal, rather than a cheque in the post... if you're outside the states.

California is no longer banned. That ban was lifted about a month or so after it happen. Amazon and the state had worked out a compromise.

You can also setup Amazon on Squidoo and split the commission.....

The easiest is to just create a corporation. That is the smart thing to do anyhow. Just set it up in a state where they have no problem with Amazon.

Do you have any info on that or where it can be found? An associate of mine is having trouble finding it?

I wouldn't deal with Amazon alone. Right when you hit that $10,000 day... your account will get banned for "doing too good".

This is not true and a totally unfounded statement. There are Amazon affiliates who are achieving this level and much more regularly. Perhaps some get banned for "doing too good" using methods against Amazon's TOS.
