The be all, end all product litmus test

I was thinking about this last night.

There are products that people readily buy online, then there are products they simply don't buy that way.

Let's make a list of reasons that could cause a person to look at buying online. Or cause a person to buy in a brick and mortar store.

1) Is it economically feasible to have it shipped? If not then it's not likely to be ordered online, like concrete statuary.

2) Would it be embarrassing to be seen in public buying it? If so, then it would be more likely that a person would buy it online.

3) Would I typically find a need for it today? Obviously shipping can't get it here till tomorrow at the earliest. So I would tend to buy it today at a store.

4) Is it hard to find? Can It be bought at a store in my area? If not I will be forced to order it online.

5) Is it trending up? Down? How long will this products life be?

6)

I know to some of you more experienced marketers this might be something that goes through your mind when thinking about a new venture. I like a lot of other newbs don't want to fall into the trap of thinking we have a good idea. Only to later learn that all of our hard work was in vain because of using products that just weren't that likely to be profitable selling online.

There are several reasons why someone would shop online instead of brick and mortar store. Price is always a factor of course and quality of the product is a must! But I think the two biggest reasons people buy from you online are convenience and trust!! You make it extremely easy for them to buy while in their jammies lol and two, they TRUST you...that your not scamming them in any way!
