My first website is complete....

..the SEO is all done (this is actually my 2nd website the first was more a trial website), and im ready for traffic. As far as making a website goes I have created a 35-point list which I can go through to get each site up and running (domain, seo factors ect). The bit im a little lost on is...how to gain the traffic...do you have a set routine that you go through? Submit to x, post here, etc etc or is it different everytime? The reason I ask is last time I spent many hours obtaining links and it seems as though many of those hours were wasted.

Will take some time, but you can use a combination of free marketing strategies everyday to get traffic to your site. Paid advertising can get you targeted traffic fast too. Don't rely on SEO alone.

YouTube and Facebook are some great ways to get some free traffic. Those links will help you rank in Google but takes time especially if you have a lot of competition.

Definitely try out Twitter and Facebook.. However, paid search traffic should be the best way to start.. You need to make sure web surfers find out about your website and the only fast and cost efficient way is to start some sort of search marketing program..

As stated all social networks can give you a boost of traffic but not real long term. If you have a blog on your site make sure your writing on a schedule. Start off at 1x per week and make sure the article is 100% original and contains your keywords in the post.

Do this and over time the articles will get indexed and picked up by people looking for your subject. Then make sure your also doing link building as well. If you said you were doing it for hours then you will need to outsource it like that in my sig. Even if you dont go through me I suggest you do link building with someone to gain links to the site to climb up the ranks in the search engines.

This will not be overnight so dont get upset when you built links today and no traffic tomorrow. It will take time!

Tactics vary according to your market, but driving traffic to your website is about simply:

    i. Finding out who your market is
    and
ii. Getting in front of that market.

So consider your own market and where you need to get in front of them at...guest blogging, forums, etc?
