Would this be something that could work out?

I had an idea..

Create a blog and provide info on some health related topic, let's say heart disease and then have an optin forum with a free ebook on healthy heart..
and build a list on that...

there are some many health niches like that..

of course my main goal would be to provide GREAT info..

Would this all be to competitive and take a serious amount of time?

Or would it be doable?

Thanks,
Ben

The health niche is definitely competitive but if you can zone in on a specific area of health you can still get a lot of traffic. And the free book + list business model is a great one and can be extremely profitable.

      I agree with Jupita,
If you just concentrate on a specific area you could do very well and giving free gifts is defiantly a bonus.

Start with keyword research and look for longer tail keywords related to very specific health issues. Use exact match rather than phrase or broad. Ideally look for non serious health issues which people need to cure desperately. Acne, eczema, hives, herpes, smokers cough, athletes foot, even foot odor, bad breath, smelly arm pits.

Then once you have found some good terms you then need to research the top 10 results in google.com and check how well they are optimized on page for the keyword and how well backlinked they are. If they use keyword anchors properly.

Hope this helps. If you need more let me know

Its all doable, and as Ive always said, just get out there and do it, if it doesnt work out, rather than feeling dejected, learn from the experience and try again! each time you will learn something new and confidence will grow!
Nobody could ride a bike straight away! as with IM, you need to fall off a couple of times, but its only those that get back on that succeed!

    Hi ben,
Probably the hardest part of starting anything like this is deciding what you want to promote, and it sounds like you have put some thought into iwhich is also important.

So, yes i think if you put the same effort into it then im sure you will get something out of it.

Good luck with your venture, please do come back and let us all know of your success

    Thanks
    Clare

Thanks for all the great replies everyone.

Avoiding learning SEO and ranking for the Search Engines is out of the question here huh?

That just depends on whether or not you have money to spend on advertising. Starting from scratch using paid traffic can be expensive so you should probably learn seo basics to get organic traffic.

      Not impossible, .. but unlikely

as a few have mentioned here, its not as hard and complicated as you might think, there are plenty of softwares that will help and show you where and what to correct, ..
also, using keywords where ever you get the chance, like the title, blog name etc etc these are all fairly reasonable and easy basic SEO steps and may just be enough to get you noticed,

Also, whatever you skip on SEO you can always make up for with other software that will get you backlinks that are invaluable when trying to get the visits coming in.

I hope that made sense and helped to some degree

Always around if you have any other questions

      Thanks

If there's one thing that you need to learn, Ben, it is keyword research. That is the one skill that is both basic and essential to good Internet Marketing. You're denying yourself very very powerful information if you skip this prerequisite.

That being said, you really don't need an advanced knowledge of SEO to do well online, even in the health niche. In fact, you don't even need Google to do well in health niche. This niche is proof that competition is a good thing because it means it's worth competing for, and generally there is a lot more to go around.

Here are some options that require nothing more than a basic knowledge of keyword research:
      1. Free - Article Marketing/Guest Posting
      2. Free - Forum Marketing
      3. Free - Social Networking
      4. Free - Video Marketing
      5. Free - Blog Commenting
      6. Paid - Adwords
      7. Paid - Facebook PPC
      8. Paid - Banner Advertising
      9. Paid - Ad Swaps
If you Google or search WF for information on any one of those methods you will have a very good starting place that won't require you to compete with the big boys in the SEO world. Trust me, there is plenty of non-organic traffic to be had just about anywhere in the health niche.

        Ben,

I'd say that is an excellent idea! Free book and optin to build your list is great!
It is totally doable- in terms of competitiveness you'll have to find a nice little sub-niche to get into but the market is hungry so that's good..
In terms of time it may take some time depending on how you get your traffic (paid or free). If you get your traffic from free methods you'll have to be out there hustling for the traffic everyday ie. forum posting, blog commenting, articles, social marketing.
I've never used paid traffic so I'm not able to comment on that.

In terms of money, it depends on what you sell to your list. The most important thing is to build that list. Once you have it you can choose what offers to send them, either your own paid product offers or affiliate offers or both .

        Good luck!

Pay per click traffic is risky. If you do go down that route be very careful to set small daily limits and test each setup very thoroughly before you lift any limits.

I do have a special offer setup with 7search for our members where they put in $50 and get and extra $25 credited to their account if you do want to try it out.

You could also banner space in forums & relevant sites, or approach existing list owners and ask for solo ads to their lists.

Btw you might find this interesting for a freebie http://www.warriorforum.com/wanted-m...ss-plugin.html

It would be doable. Just make sure your in a niche sub-segment of the whole "health" market that you can enter into and profit from.

You do not sound too confident. YES it would be a good idea but NOT if you are not confident and do not believe it. The strategy WORKS... but you have to do the WORK and not give up when it isn't turning out how you expect. There are no silver bullets. I can tell you it works because I have one of my clients doing exactly that. It can even be monetized but understand there is a HUGE difference in a list of free guide getters and a List of buyers.

Do you want to simply provide information or make money or Both? Determine that before you start so you know the approach you will need to take.
