Squeeze Page: Work Flow

With sooo many resources on the forum I am at a fork in the road. My current work flow is penciled in below.

Video squeeze page with free online course and several free resources offer> collect e-mail for list via AWeber> 7 day sequence of auto responders with online course offer on the 7th day.

If you have a video squeeze page do you have a full copy to accompany the video?

Also after a 7 day SOS what are you keeping your list engaged with?

If you have a video squeeze page where people can
view the video without subscribing, then you don't
necessarily need to have a lot of additional copy on
    the page.

Test out a couple of different pages, e.g. video only
    vs. video + some text.

I'd have a headline above the video.

After the 7-days, continue to send people content
and offers that are relevant to the topic area that
    they originally signed-up for.

And by the way, you may want to consider moving
the time at which you make the offer from day 7
back to much earlier in your series.

People buy when they're ready to buy, not just when
    you're ready to sell.

Spit-test: Video version, Sales copy version and Hybrid of both.
Send them a mixture of free and paid information relevant to your niche.

@Shaun - I forgot to add there is a 2 min video to get them to opt-in for the free course and resources. Move upto a 2-3 day paid offer? Should I offer a coarse that is not launching until May?

Split testing seems to be the way to go.

Test the squeeze pages. i use mostly video squeeze pages. On some of my best, I also have plenty of content. Test it to see what works in your niche.

    Test everything you do online.

It's taken me YEARS to get to this mindset, because I truly hate testing, but it's absolutely vital if you ever expect to get anywhere.

I've been involved in IM for over a decade, and right now I'm conducting my first true split test of email opt-ins. The data has been fascinating, and has gone against what I would have expected.

Think about that...after a decade of doing this, my tests are showing the opposite of what I believed to be true.

If that's the case, what chance does someone who is new at this have at guessing right?

Don't guess. Split test and KNOW.

So your split test runs "A" for 2 weeks and "B" for 2 weeks then compare?

      No.

A valid split test alternates any traffic between Page A
and Page B in real time.

If you 'test' Page A for 2 weeks and then test Page B
2 weeks later, you have an additional factor that will
      influence the figures.

Okay. Looks like I need to figure out how to alternate the traffic. Learning slowly but surely

One more comment with regards to split testing..

Make sure you're gathering enough data.

I would say at the very MINIMUM get a data set with 100 results (ie: 100 visits to the page). The more, the better, but don't decide that a particular page isn't performing because it hasn't gotten a conversion in the first 20 visits.

That'd be like deciding that a die cannot roll a 6 after rolling it 6 times and not getting one. You might get 6 6's in a row or none at all - Roll it 600 times and you'll probably have one hundred "-ish" 6's rolled. You might have a winner and yet move on to another headline or body or call to action without giving it a fair shot.

    Cheers,
