What's the matter with exit scripts?? - Help with new product?

Hi there!

I was wondering what you guys think of exit scripts. The good bits, the bad bits, and, of course, the ugly bits!

I am making a new exit script, similar to exit prophet pro, and I was wonder what you guys think is good about exit scripts, what you'd like to see in an exit script, and how much you'd be willing to pay if the script had everything you suggested.

Then I'll finish the script, run a WSO and give 50% discounts and maybe even run it with PLR!!

Thanks

Mubarak

We currently use an amazingly effective exit popup script called "Virtual Smart Agent" (google it) with incredibly good success. Works to start a chat window when people leave the page, offering them a $10 discount on our product.

If you have high end ticket items and really tight lists I think pop ups can be bad. But when you're selling products that people won't often buy anything else from you they work better. Also, it really depends I think these kind of windows are better for first time visitors rather than loyal subscribers. You'd rather make a sale out of something who has already said "no" than someone who trust and likes you and possibly risk severing the relationship.

Apologizes for all the mistakes that are probably in here, it's quite late.

It's funny how some people like a feature whilst others loathe it. And I loathe pop-ups that initiate a chat window. I don't really know why, but they really annoy me.

Whereas I find those that offer a free report okay. I know that someone is just trying to get me on their list, but that's fine. If I have been just a little bit interested in the main product, then I don't mind going on a list if I think the report or mini course might be of interest to me ... and who knows, I might actually buy the main product in the future.

These are just my thoughts, from a consumer perspective. I guess what's more important is what works from a sales perspective.

I'm just about to add an exit script to a site, so I'll continue to watch this thread.

If you keep exit pop-ups to show discount, how many people actually chat with your support and see the discount?

Why not actually display discount to whole visitors, so your offer can be exposed to many people, not only those who chat with you?

        Just a doubt ...

i think that if you show people something for $X, they may say 'if only it was a bit cheaper', especially in the recession.

If you show them a pop-up offering it for $X-5, then they'll think great!!

BUT, in my experience, if you offer it for $X-5 in the first place, they'll still say if only....

Price AHAP (as high as possible), and make your exit price ALAP (work it out for yourself this time ;-))
