Money talks. It is as simple as that.

Many people need money or just want to make more of it and the internet is a great place to do just that.

You can make money by writing about any topic that others are looking for.

Would you work at home JOB for free???

It's basically all about the money...

I mean, getting other stuff is great too, but at the end of the day, if you don't have money from your efforts, you are chasing your tail.

I'm not saying money should be your number one motivator, just that, well, it's a huge ingredient.

The entire world revolves around money, it's the foundation of our entire economy.

That being said, not everything is done for money on the net some people do stuff just for the love of it.

The open source movement is a good example ... and there's also a growing culture revolving around free music.

And by free music I don't mean anything downloaded illegally.

I mean Netaudio Culture, where artists release music completely free just for the love of doing it.

But here's the thing, you gotta have some money .. you gotta pay the bills and put money on the table for your family... however for some that's not enough, but for others that's just enough.

Money makes the world go round, but obviously there is more than that. The thing is that nothing comes for free so you have to work hard to enjoy the little things. So money isn't everything but it's certainly damn important.

As all but Fernando's answer show you, it is about the money, for marketers. The same can't be said for internet users at large.

No, you shouldn't 'do anything' for money. I wouldn't murder someone for money, for instance. Would you? Heck, there are TONS of things I wouldn't do for cash.

As for these erotic pics and videos you're posting: I guess it depends on how good you look

We, as marketers look everything we do on the internet through money.

Many people do things just for fun, or they find pleasure in helping others.

There are three basic things I need where I live. Food, water and a roof. They all cost money. So in order have those three basic things, I need to make money.

I make my money online, why is that a question of ethics or different to someone offline with a job?

If you're struggling with the ethics, why did you make your way online to an internet marketing forum?

As for 'odd things' done online, what do you mean? As for discussing the ethics of erotic pictures online and whether it's ethical or not is probably best in the off topic forum or in another forum altogether....with the greatest respect of course.

Hmm. A nice question I must say! I'll put it this way - YES. Most of us sub-consciously are trying to exploit the web only for money, but apart from that, day to day experiences and learning across the net are very important as well. However, if you end up telling yourself in so many words that "I am doing this only for money", then there's a likely possibility that you will fail.
All of this relates to choice of business model - if the model you have chosen is one you are passionate about and it is making you money as well, that feeling will eventually subside and you will realise that you have struck gold !
    All the best

That might be the grandest generalization in the entire thread. I especially do not agree with the use of the term "exploit". If that's how you "subconsciously" view your online usage that's on you. Don't attribute it to the rest of us though.

Myself and others go by the crazy idea of "helping" others with our online efforts. Of course it is about the money; but it's not like we are just grabbing what we can while giving nothing in return.

Furthermore, my internet usage at least is only partly for business. More often, it is an entertainment and educational platform. I'm not reading a Red Sox blog or chatting with friends on Facebook while thinking deep down alright, there is money here for the taking!

Money is freedom, if you don't have it, you are enslaved, I love when people talk about how great it is to live in a free country and then they have to run off to go do something they hate for 8 straight hours, its funny if not completely depressing.

But I degresss, passive income is a wonderful thing because it allows you to focus on things you love and are passionate about without trying to factor "how can I make this profitable" which tends to ruin the goodness of things.

Everyone may indeed work a job or own a business or market online or whatever all the people on earth do to pay for their living but I would not say that is what really drives everyone.

If it were just about the money, we would all be doing what pays the best regardless of how we feel about it and most people just don't do that.

How often have people left super high paying professions to get lower paying jobs for a better life?

There are some methods, like what the OP posted, to use online that would probably make money but I and a lot of other people DON'T use them.

I have several family members that could work as executives and have much higher salaries and benefits but instead they work for a non-profit with a much lower wage and much less benefits.

A very good friend of mine gave up a very high pressure, very high paying sales job to stay at home and try his hand at rental properties.

If it were JUST about the money, all those things would not be so.

I wouldnt say the internet is all about money. I would say its greatest benefit is connecting people from all over the world and also for finding information.

Sites like social media keep everyone up to date with each other.
Informational sites like Wikipedia and more give you instant knowledge and facts. Also looking up reviews etc/
It is also for entertainment like Youtube and music sites.

Definatly not all about money there is a HUGE VAST amount of stuff online that is not all about buying or selling.

Absolutely not! I look up things I'm curious about all the time, and don't spend a dime. But, I am quite a tightwad so I can't speak for everyone

For instance, my husband had esophageal cancer for 2 1/2 years (now cancer-free, thank the Lord), but I researched treatment facilities, surgical procedures, symptoms, etc. constantly. The internet IS heavily commercial, but it's still great for finding information that doesn't cost a thing.

Dude let me just put it in this way, it is not like we are scamming others or something.

We are giving them good solid products that we made and have confidence in .

We are giving them a chance to share our success and become a better person in various aspects. Heck, most of them might even thank you for introducing such excellent products .

Isn't being an internet marketer all about making cash and helping people at the same time ?

As for the porn pics or erotic whatever you are talking about , Guys (maybe girls too) have the curiosity in this niche. It is sorta a way to refer whether or not you are doing it the right way , something practically helping you with your marriage life ! It should not be considered bad, after all how many guys in this world can say that they have never been to it or have no interest in it at all ? I myself......

This is all for conversation with no criticizing intended. I seriously think we are not doing something bad . So, cheer up and continue working on your internet marketing !

No, the internet is not only for making money online. It's also a excellent tool for communicating and social interaction with friends and family. The internet is great for finding information of any kind including information on how to make money. If you are providing valuable information or instruction you can also make great money online.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[6109722].message }}
  • Ultimately, the money factor is always there in the equation.

Take YouTube: people upload their videos to share their views to the world without asking money for it, but the only reason YouTube.com allows them to do so is because there are sponsors paying for the video bandwidth via their ad budget.

So one way or another, whatever we do in life, money does always play a role at some point along the way. Whether we like it or not, money makes the world spin more than any other motivation.

I disagree with the thought that internet is just for money, yes indeed we can make money out of the internet but considering that people are using it in a wrong way is another story. Internet has become a vital needs in our lives especially in today's era so it is something that should be use for good.

People wouldn't sell adult stuff on the internet if there weren't other people buying it. The internet is not anything outside the real world. Just like people pay for prostitutes in the offline world, they pay for adult content in the online world. If you don't think it is right, you don't need to sell or buy it.

To answer your thread title, no, I don't think so. I think this forum itself speaks for the fact that there is a lot more to the internet than earning money. People here constantly post valuable information so that others can access it free of cost. It just goes to show that people aren't here to just earn money, they are here to learn, share and enjoy
