Domain name in redemption period...how can I buy?

Hi Everyone

Was wondering if anyone can give any advice?

I have been watching a domain for a while for a client of mine, who lost it through a previous webmaster who did not renew.

I had contacted the owner on several occasions but had no response. I checked again last month and he had let it lapse. It is currently in the redemption period and the whois database has been updated in the last few days by the registrar (e commercedotcom) as their address and domainredemption at ecommercedotcom

The redemption period is due to expire tomorrow (I think). What do I do? I really don't want to miss this.

Any help would be very welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

Clojo

Im in a similiar situation. Im trying to pick up a 12 year old domain that expired some time ago.

I just put a backorder on it.

Not sure if this is possible in your situation. I guess it depends on which registrar youre with.

Im no domain expert by any means. Perhaps someone else might chime in.

Watch the WHOIS info carefully every day. Once it says "pending delete", there are exactly 5 days until is becomes available for the public to register.

Redemption Period lasts for 30 days, then it goes into the last 5-day phase of "Pending Delete".

If you want to have the best chance of being the one to grab it the moment it becomes available, use NameJet.com to backorder it for you. They will attempt to snag it the moment it's available.

Just to add to Gene's advice i have found better results by 'backordering' with Namejet, Snapnames and Pool. You only pay the one that gets it as far as i remember.

PS. Forget about Godaddy, i have tried several times through them and never successful...

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.
