I read about this yesterday on some other site. Interesting reading and to be honest I've heard of Instagram but never looked into it. Maybe I should but I don't do mvery much photo sharing.

I started feeling the vibe that Instagram was gaining rapid viral popularity, especially since it's release to Android devices. I have heard all of circles of friends and associates talking about Instagram this and Instagram that for the past 4-5 days. In less than 2 hours, I had half of my friend's from Facebook following me on Instagram, and I was following them. I found myself loading Instagram BEFORE Facebook on my Android Phone.

I believe this is due to the boredom every person experiences naturally over time by using the same exact thing every single day. Instagram is nothing really new, but it's new when compared to using Facebook all the time. Facebook was very wise in this decision... After all, I am sure Facebook is starting to hear the whispers that the social conglomerate is on the decline, and popularity is starting to fall among it's user base... So what do they do? Buy out the next big thing. Smart move.

I fail to understand how this can benefit FB in the long run. Perhaps someone can enlighten me?

The fall of popularity with Facebook VS the Rise of Popularity with Instagram. It's called a solid back up plan.

****! The reason I got into Instagram was because I wanted to get away from Facebook. I feel like some invaded my private virgin island.

Facebook management is as shrewd as they come. The reach that Google has with google images and some of its other products gets a bit of offset, plus this allows Facebook to use this product for mobile reach. Not a bad move at all.

valuation isnt for the tools, but for the 30 million users. Things are getting a little bubblish again, paying big bucks for eyeballs and no revenue or profit. Pinterest I'm sure will be valued big, but they should not wait too long, the market may tank soon.

Facebook is very defensive rightfully so. Why? As we become more mobile users there are little or no ads on mobile. The lifeblood of the facebooks of the world. If most of the people went mostly mobile facebook, their valuation would implode.

Find a way to monetize mobile and you'll be a 50 billionaire in a couple years.
