Default Live links in PDF file.

How do I keep my affiliate links in PDF file? When I convert a word doc to pdf, nothing is live. Is there a special program to make live banners and links work after I convert to a pdf?

Also, instead of Microsoft Word, can I use Microsoft Publisher to create a pdf with live links?

i dont know about publisher but some pdf programs dont let your links display properly the best program to use is openoffice from openoffice.org

Its very popular and is a free alternative to word and you simply save the document in pdf.

openoffice from openoffice.org is great. Almost identical feature as MS office. Best, it is free. Can't beat it.

Yes. Download openoffice. It has a built-in pdf generator, and your link will be
embedded in the pdf file.

BTW Openoffice can read your word document.

HI Marty,

When you are publishing such links in a PDF, it's very useful to use an .htaccess file redirect to manage the URLs.

So, in the pdf you can have Marty_Recommends/go/link1.php, /go/link2.php, etc.

Then you maintain a .htaccess file that sends the user to your actual affiliate link. Thus, your affiliate link is not displayed.

AND, if at a later time you want to change a link --well, you're out of luck because the pdf is out of reach, BUT, with what I suggest you can change the "go to" url in the .htaccess file and update the link.

Just a thought before you publish.
Success,
Sam

Interesting, Thank you. How do you do this? The .htaccess file is on a web server, I have no idea how that connects to a downloadable PDF file.
