iWriter pays about $2-$4 an hour. I put out a Warrior For Hire here to be a writer, but people say I need to improve my skills.

Lower skilled writers get less work here. In fact I put it out, and got no clients.

I suggest running a test.

Set up a website where you offer ghost writing for $40 an article, then do some article marketing to promote it.

Then set up another website where you offer ghost writing for $10 an article. Rinse and repeat.

I bet you will make more money, and interestingly more unit sales, on the $40 an article website, at least that was my experience when I ran the same test a half-dozen years ago.

It may not help with "today" money, but it will help your earnings long-term.

What are you having trouble with specifically? Grammar? Spelling? Writing flow? Not using active voice?

Honesty is always the best policy in advertising.

Instead of saying "High Quality Original Article", try "Fast Article Writing"... This way, people won't be questioning your quality when trying to decide if they will buy from you.

You may also want to check out Associated Content; it's a good way to supplement what you're already doing. And they pay you for each article you submit from what I understand

Elance and fiverr. Bid as many jobs as possible on elance, start by bidding a few cheap and build your reputation.

Create the maximum 20 gigs on fiverr. Even if your only looking to write, create gigs with slightly different wording, tags and categories. Also look through other gigs, if you need money there have to be literally dozens of weird,unique things you can do for $5 that will take very little time.

Totally agree with tpw. Honesty is the most important thing when it comes to internet marketing. If you may the best product in the world, but if nobody trusts you, too bad =(

It's about the numbers game. If you want to earn $100 a day, and you are earning $4 for an article, means you need to write 25 a day! Which is a lot I think. Try out odesk.com, freelancer.com or guru.com. Build your portfolio there. You might be lucky to land on a big project that pays you maybe $300 for a project. And if you can complete it in 3 days, you've just made $100 a day =)

Then again, like what James B asked, what are your problems or difficulties or weakness that you have? Share with us and maybe we have a solution for you =)

If I were you (have great writing skills), I will do some blogging and maybe write a book and sell it?

They say my articles are filled with fluff. I bid at at freelancer.com daily, but haven't landed a job yet. I don't mind writing 25 articles a day, to put those $100 a day in my pocket so I can invest it, but the problem is, where will I find 25 articles to write everyday?

If you can increase the quality of what you write, finding buyers will not be a problem.

If you want more customers from freelancer.com, odesk, eguru, etc. you need to provide potential customers with better writing samples.

In order to improve your quality -- to get rid of the fluff, may I suggest the following:

1. Understand your topic, with some depth;

2. Decide on the message that you want to share with your readers;

3. Stop beating around the bush, and start writing to convey a specific idea or message to your readers;

4. When readers feel as if you have something to say, and that you are talking directly to them, they tend to see less fluff in your copy.

Improving your quality really is this easy...

People make this harder than it needs to be, because they are often afraid to say what needs to be said in an article...

Have the guts to say what you need to say in your writing.

HINT: Some people will hate you for saying it, and some people will love you for saying it... And either way, at least you are writing with enough conviction to say something of value to the people in your audience who want to hear what you have to say...

This might sound funny to you guys. But how much time do you think it will take me to write 32 500 word articles a day?

This is how many I am required to write to make $80 a day at iWriter.

More than 8 hours? :b

This is a serious question. I don't think I can do it, but it sure would improve my writing skills.

You can write a good article in 20-30 minutes.

If you are writing a number of articles on the same topic, you can get that down to less than 20 minutes consistently.

In 8 hours, you should be able to write 16-24 articles.

At $4 an article, you should be able to make anywhere from $64 to $96 a day.

This, this this, a million times this. Writers who worry about a word count and keyword density will forever work at a penny per word or under.

I know when I was just pumping out as many articles as I could as fast as I could. I burned out fast. Take a look at my forum history. From about August to October I was just gone. Couldn't do it anymore.

Now Freelancing10, I don't know what your threshold for burnout is. It might be much higher than mine. It is my firm belief though that everyone would hit it at some point trying to do what you do. If it is going to be a very short term thing, then do what you have to do to hit $100 per day.

The best thing you can do though is follow Bill's advice, get better, and leverage yourself to make more, doing less, while better satisfying your clients.

I did professional ghost writing from 2000-2009.

I started off at $20 per a 1000-word article, and retired at $150 for 1000-words.

I always hit burn-out windows when I was asked to write about things that annoyed me, like medical and real estate.

In the end, I just could not bring myself to write for anyone anymore.

I did zero writing in 2010, then I started releasing products in 2011.

Now I only write for me, and that is the only way I want to do it going forward.

Between 2006 & 2008, I sold ghost writing and hired others to fill the job orders. I was paying my writers $20 an article, my editors $10 an article to edit, and myself $10 an article to get the job. I was selling 5-figures in sales per month doing that. But I lost a key person in my system, and the whole thing came crashing down.

I did $20,000 in refunds from Nov to Dec of 2008 and quit selling ghost writing provided by others. My sweet spot pricing was $45 an article. By "sweet spot", I mean that was the price point that allowed me to make the most sales * profit per article = highest profits.

Not trying to burst your bubble. Its always great to have hopeful thinking, but thats just not enough to cut it.

First problem: Not all articles you write are going to be "accepted"
Second problem: You barely can write well enough, so work on what skills you need to learn. E.g. "writing with active voice more" *hint *hint

Calculation problem: $1.62 for 300 words per article.

You want to make at least $100 a day. You need pump out 100% accepted articles thats about 98 articles within a 24 hr day.. 8hrs of play, 8 hrs of sleep, 8hrs writing?

Realistic scenario: You need to hit 5 articles minium in hr frame time estimate.

Cash out: You need a minimum of $20, (remember to set the settings in your profile)

If I had to make money today, I would go Into Website and or Domain Flipping. I did this very successfully on Flippa and on Ebay for a while. It is not a difficult skill to learn and it does not take much time. Although you do have to invest a bit of money for the domains. I flip a domain name for an average of 60 dollars a day. These are the easiest and fastest ways I know of making money now online...

Bill (tpw) has shared some great tips on this thread. Freelancing10, I hope you will reread and digest what he's said because it can help you get out of 'the mindset you are in'.

If your articles have fluffy material like you stated, you need to research the article's subject a little more before starting to write. This is pretty simple. For example, I sometimes open more than ten tabs on my browser, just to read up about the subject. It gives me a more clear understanding about what readers would want.

From what I see, you are on the verge of achieving your goals. Believe in your abilities, improve your skills, practice every day and market yourself.

Oh, lastly, don't settle for those content mills. You'll burn out pretty fast.

I want to make $100 a day.

Start learning a different approach to help you generate more income.

If you have plenty of time, you can start gaining more knowledge about a new marketing strategy.

In the meantime you can also market your existing services more aggressively.

Quality, originality, keyword density... these are the factors that writers look at when writing articles. If you would like to increase your income, register at various outsourcing websites. I came across some profiles in oDesk who earn $15-$30 per hour. Most of them specialize in technical writing. Blog writing or general article writing will pay you lower because there is more competition.

Try to sell web hosting space. Many companies like blue host, fatcow, hostgator are offering $50 and above for 1 sale. Going by their offer, if you sell 2 hosting space every day your goal of $100 per day is achieved.
