Google Plus Is Booming, Don't Miss Out

I honestly do not see a future for g+. Yeah people upgraded, but I know almost no one who actually uses it.

Google Plus is dead to me... LOL

Maybe I should think again, but I believe it is simply an attempt by Google to figure out who I really follow and why, so they can use it against me later. :p

Here's my problem with Google +.

I signed up a few weeks ago and found that pretty much none of my friends and contacts who use Facebook are on there. Maybe less than 30 of 1000 had profiles on it.
The issue is that if this is the case for other people, signups are going to be severely hampered. With social networking sites, people tend to go where there friends are and for the moment at least, the social networking side of things is done on FB.

The sharing side is great, but I don't know if it justifies its own social network. To be honest intergration with FB or Twitter would seem like the easiest route to go down, but then what do I know?! :rolleyes:

People will use it for a while because its being forced down our throats!!

People aren't choosing to use the service like they have chose to use Facebook, they have no choice if they want to use the other services.

The numbers are complete BS, its all tied into Google's other services to make the pathetic social attempt seem as though its popular.

The only people I see shouting about G+ are those trying to make money/market on it AND NOT real, everyday people.

Lets see how long Google can get away with force feeding this to people

I've heard this before and tried to spend some time in there like I do in other social network but there is zero, nada, none, no interaction going on.

As far as Google connecting everything, I don't like it at all.

They are probably shooting themselves in the foot thinking they are too big and in too much control to falter but that is never the truth as history has shown us so many times in the past.

There are other ways to get traffic than Google, there are other ways to do anything than what Google has to offer so my advice to everyone is don't tie your whole life to Google and be forced to do whatever they want you to.

Going over to Google Plus right now is like hanging out at a Ghost town.

Who wants to do that when there is a party every day on facebook and twitter....and now Pinterest!

I'm pretty sure that my strategy will be to get a few G+ accounts going, but not really do much with them. I want them in case I need them in the future and if "aged" profiles will help at some point, but as for now they'll just sit in my marketing dustbowl until I really have a reason for them.

I am a bit skeptical about this social network. I have almost no friends who actually use it and Facebook has the corner on it. I think it is great for some linking and may drive some traffic, but to focus a lot of attention on it would not be super beneficial. In addition, I already have one social network trying to be my "online fingerprint", I don't think I want another

There is one aspect I do like, categorizing groups of people. I think that this is much more effective for some of our uses. We can have people plugged into certain niches and seperate out family and friends that we don't want to get IM pushes. So I think this is a very useful aspect of this network.

I'm still waiting for a source outside of Google (or a Warrior that can link to something not written by Google) to confirm that G+ is actually worth joining.

That means they have clicked on the You+ button to auto join, not that they are actively using the product.

From what I have seen so far, Google+ is just frequented mainly by geeks and hipsters and marketers.

The rest of the world are still on facebook where they have all their family and freinds already added and they are comfortable with the interface, so why would they change anything?

yawn ... of course they're signing up because Google has now made it NOT optional if you want any other kind of Google account. So they aren't breaking down the doors to sign up. They are automatically signed up when they open other Google accounts.

Google is greedy and I don't support Monopolies on any market. Google and Walmart are demonstrating to perfection how a free market capitalist system always ends with a few corporations standing on a mass grave of fallen business. Ask yourself: Does Google really need a social networking service? Facebook is free and people like it, so how does the "competition keeps pricing down" argument going to fly in this debate? Anyone? Ayn Rand speak up we can't hear you down here in the gutter...

Google+ is the worst product launch since Ford introduced the Edsel. At least they gave people the 'choice' to buy it or not.

It's the largest network of marketers. Nothing like warrior forum where you can come and get advice on either.

Apart from that there's another group... there's folk with websites that reckon being hooked up with G+ will position their sites higher in the SERPS.

It's pretty obvious they are targeting silver surfers (they are the largest demographic of web users in the UK).

It looks to me like G+ are going after a different market than FB, which is kinda smart (if that's what they are doing) because this demographic also has the most money to spend.

There are people on Google Plus but they are not active users of the Google Plus. They rarely log in to their G+ account.

I have used G+ socially and not made any attempt to use it for marketing purposes. I am really beginning to get turned off by facebook despite having a pretty extensive network now as it has really just grown clunky and processor heavy. Their app crashes my phone frequently and remains the only app that crashes my phone at all. They have quickly added a long host of features that are not wanted, are kind of a pain in the butt, and are enabled by default without informing me in any appreciable way that they have been implemented. For example when FB groups were rolled out they do not give you the option to NOT be added to groups automatically and spam my inbox with emails every time anyone posts anything. I logged in after being offline for two days and had over 12,000 emails from FB for updates to groups I had been added to, had no interest in being added to, and had no interest in being notified of. The fact that I still cannot disable automatically being added to groups by others is a huge turnoff. I really don't want to invest a ton of time deleting spam from my inbox and repeatedly leaving groups that I have no interest in.

Another example is the new policy they have where I can be penalized for adding people who I do not explicitly know in real life. I have been getting warnings for adding people I met through other online channels and actually had my ability to friend people briefly suspended because FB asked a number of people who actually wanted to connect with me whether they knew me in real life or not, but despite the fact that they did in fact accept my friend request I was still penalized for not knowing them personally. Things like this that detract from the user experience for no purpose other than allowing FB to pry further into our privacy and bulldoze it's way into more of our free time will eventually drive others away, and they will turn to the most viable other network, which is at least at this point probably G+.

This is really the same sort of thing that happened to Myspace. I agree that G+ lacks the social population that FB does currently, but their features are far better implemented, hog much less of my machine's resources, and are far less invasive in any consciously visible way. Should FB continue this policy I expect that they will be putting nails in their own coffin. I also agree that monopolies are not in any way desirable, however for the general public at large they are going to do what is popular and what is the easiest to work with.

Pinterest have made more noise in few months than google plus on a year.

I guess Google plus is a phase that about to die, and if google didn't let it go like they did with some of their lousy product, their ship will sink with it.

I'm a skeptic. I don't know anyone of my friends using it currently and I don't forsee people interacting with it like they do on Facebook.

google are not too good at user interfaces.

The whole Circles thing whilst probably very logical is not how things work.

I follow a few people who are in a stream I am interested in and log in when I have time to see if anything of interest has been posted.

Its very embarrassing Plussing or posting your little business in that context.

Occasionally someone Pluses me from my Places help forum posting and I put them in my Places contacts circle and wait to see what happens.

I'm like most everybody else here. I have a G+ account because it was forced on me. I did not want it, but Google decided I should have it since I used some of their other stuff. Whatever. I hope Google+ dies a slow, painful death.

Google needs to be broken up a bit. They know too much about people. I personally recommend people to not use Google stuff anymore, simply because they are getting too big for anybody's good.
