Link exchange?

Someone emailed me at my site wanting to do a link exchange? I'm not totally sure what they mean or the purpose. Can someone explain?

    It means they want you to link to their site from yours, and they will link from their site to yours. It's called reciprocal linking. It doesn't have much SEO value but if your sites complement each others then you may get a little traffic from them.

    They want to add their link on your web site in return they will add yours on their web site. However it would be much better if you do one way linking rather then doing link exchange, ask then if they can pay you for adding their links to your web site. In this way you will have value fr your web site and they will get value for their money.
