I hope I don't get banned or flamed for asking this, but I have done (what I think is) a thorough search and I can't find the answer.

I had a thread on here that I started a few weeks ago that was fairly popular. It's been chugging along and people seemed to enjoy it for the most part...but last night a lock appeared on it and now it says that it's closed.

As far as I can tell from the terms of service and admin sticky threads, no rules were broken. Can any of the more experienced users let me know what happened (or why it might have happened...I know only one person actually knows what happened, and I have no clue who it would be) so that I don't break that rule again in the future?

Thanks in Advance!

    Hi Jason,

Sometimes it has nothing to do with breaking the rules. Threads can be locked for a number of reasons including, but not limited to...continued repeat responses where nothing new is added, taking up front page real estate after its' usefulness becomes marginal, unnecessary bumping by the OP, flame wars off topic to the thread, and a host of other reasons.

Best to just carry on and not worry about your threads getting locked.

Bill's got it right. A thread that lasts several weeks with no real new info being added gets closed frequently. Has nothing to do with rules ... just the shelf life a thread.
