To start with you could invest in:
    -autoresponder
    -domain
    -hosting
    -(outsourcing)

An easy way to passive income:
    -Choose a niche
-Create/get a giveaway in that niche
    -Create a squeezepage.
    -Drive traffic to the squeezepage.
    -capture the leads

It does take some work to build a list, but you can outsource the trafficpart if you want.

    Hope this helped

Competitive yes but so what there are newbies bitten by the the IM bug every day and need the tool of the trade.

Also high ticket items such as trainings....you do not have to be the expert..you promote one you believe in that has a monthly recurring affiliate program.

No I mean as "tools" to get leads. OP asked how to invest his money.

    Truly passive is hard.

But basically building up a business, be it SEO, solo ad selling, affiliate marketing, whatever, and outsource all of it other than major decision making which you can do when you're bored, or feel guilty

Promote affiliate products (so you don't do any of the work or customer service), that are recurring membership sites that pay recurring affiliate income. Nothing is going to be passive when you start out, though after building up to a level of new members the recurring income will be very passive, with little work to maintain getting more members that you could even outsource that part.

Recurring commissions could come from Autoresponder services, hosting, dating sites, Forex or investment sites that pay lifetime Comissions on what your leads invest, niche membership sites like in IM etc. etc.

With those you make less upfront, though you make more long term, so you're investing in building up a long term passive income.

I was about to suggest the same, probably the best passive income you can create - what you make from rent could go down (or up), depending on the state of the economy, state of the neighborhood, etc. but in terms of stability, it would probably beat anything you can create online. I've had sites, making me 1000s of dollars for years, requiring very little effort, but today they are all gone; the "online" changes way too fast

The passive income that you can count on, is finding a business that you can outsource entirely to professionals for cheap. So you get the clients through a ranked site and use your outsource team to do the rest.

If you have the financial resources to invest, I would
suggest investing in writing and publishing books on
    kindle and other ereader platforms.

Write, or have written, a book add a good quality book
cover and publish. You can then leave it to Amazon, etc.
to manage the entire selling process for you.

The more quality books you have the more passive income
    you can generate.

      Agreed.

Esif, first ask yourself what projects you're generally comfortable with (although extensive knowledge isn't a requirement if you plan to outsource.)

If you're willing to try just about anything, I personally suggest you look into book publishing. It is by far the truest form of passive income I have personally experienced. The right book and the right quality could yield amazing results.

    Yeah, that's right.

The very first thing you need to invest is "learning" how the online money making works.

There are countless ways to make money online in passive way and you need to invest on tools to make your passive income consistently growing and so your expertise.

    Recommended Study you can do:
    - Affiliate Marketing -> You can try Clickbank as your first Affiliate Network(they are real, not scam)
    - List Building -> this will help you power up your affiliate marketing or to whatever money making business you are in.
    - Video Marketing -> Making videos of yourself or learning on it is a huge investments and benefits for your personal and business needs.

    Tools You Should Learn:
    - Autoresponder Tools(I recommend Aweber)
    - Clickbank < - this is an Affiliate Network company, there we more.
    - Youtube
    - Wordpress(self hosted platform)
    - Web Hosting
    - Keyword Research Tools

And I guess that's just it! Hope you found my suggestions and recommendations helpful.

I'm a Virtual Assistant working for a very successful entrepreneur and I know those are a huge help in your investments to create passive income. There are more things I could share, but that would be too much to digest.

    Thank you!!

Best advice given ... i would like to add passive income is a broad term it cant be defined, so our passion is must in IM
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[8070261].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author dndoseller
It really, really has to started with your passion. Whatever web business you start, marketing it will be all about content, content, content. Videos, text, eBooks, PR, articles, webinars, etc. So what do you love that you would be willing an interested to create all that content?

If you can connect your genuine excitement and interest in something to a website, blog and digital product you will have gold. Because you have to get up in the morning thinking... I can't wait to create my next blog post, video, etc. Otherwise it will just me another boring tedious job.

Internet Marketing without excitement and passion behind the content is the most tedious, boring, frustrating business you could imagine.

Don't believe the hype, none of it is really "passive" like a savings account or bond.

People only call it "passive" because the Internet enables you to live an independent life where you can share your true passions with the world and monetize that. So it really does feel passive.

Ebay can yield you sales pretty quickly. So can Amazon, but i wouldn't base an entire business around them. You should promote web hosting affiliate programs (like Hostgator) and get paid monthly for each customer you refer to them.

Real estate. Stocks. Kindle. That's about as passive as you can get.

I agree with the above. Go with Kindle.

Use a service like I offer or write your own book/s and start selling. Simple as that. The income is definitely residual. Do the work or outsource once, and you'll see money every month if you pick the right topic/title/keywords.

Well I love Passive Income as many of you have read my Hospital thread here at WF. Today I am starting a new site and project. I call it the Oasis Effect, which primarily focuses on Necessity (Info Products). This is somewhat out of my expertise as far as niches, but I do want to help people out, but this project will be extensive that hits many topics. So a lot of content will be needed.

Affiliate program ways can be used for making a lot of money... but... this is hard to be used as passive income because this needs maintenance...

I highly recommend network marketing - this can be used as the source of the passive income. At the beginning, you need to develop your own group to thousands of members until it runs itself without your presence and you get the passive income $xxx or $x,xxx or even $xx,xxx monthly. Now this is internet era, you can promote your network marketing business through the internet.

Membership sites are great way to generate passive income. Once you build it up, you can keep getting renewals month after month if your information is high quality and people enjoy being a member. It's not easy but it's stable and can be a nice source of extra income. I call it "fun money"! It's a business like anything else and work is involved.

its all relatively passive maybe after a year of hard work if you are looking for complete done for you set up i recommend devon browns easiest system ever
all you have to do is send traffic to your already hosted pages all the follow up emails are done for you all the affiliate products are added for you you can build your list using this and spend an hour or two a week on doing list swaps and solo ads.
or maybe you could set up a heap of review sites and wait along time ther is no magic button my friend this is as easy as it gets there is nothing completely passive you still need to check in with you biz daily

The trick is with making true passive income is using traffic methods that you set up once and they bring in traffic around the clock... Whether you're sat at the computer or not.

All you gotta do then is simply direct this "passive" traffic to a high converting system like a highly optimized squeeze page and auto responder series then watch the commissions roll in.

This is exactly what I'm doing and it's working really well. The only thing now is I keep working to grow my "passive" traffic to higher and higher levels.

Guess it kinda defeats the point as I'm working all the time and not enjoying the passive income I generate but hey, you snooze, you lose

It's going to take a couple of months, but it's certainly very possible, don't anyone tell you it's not

      Here's how you do it:

      A) Find talented freelancers willing to work for cheaper rates (think 3rd world countries - graphic designers, programmers, even writers). Assemble a team and treat them like gold.

      B) Market your services and outsource the work, weed out the non serious from serious clients. Find 5-6 big fishes that need regular work done and pay you good money for it because you can deliver results. This is going to take a couple of months, but they're there (trust me). When you find them, treat them like gold.

      C) Take orders and pass them on to your outsourcers to test the system. Make changes as necessary.

      D) Hire a trustworthy, experienced manager to oversee marketing, orders and work.

      E) Enjoy your mojitos. Or vodka, whatever you like comrade!

        Hey there

I dont like and i dont intend to throw a wet blanket but just for discussion sake..

I used to love the idea of that.
        Outsourcing that is.

But there are lots of factors that come into play when outsourcing.
And im sure you know that.
But some people reading may not.

So i just want to say, going with the whole idea of just outsourcing to get "passive" income can be far from the truth.

        1. 1st we have to define "passive" because it is a very subjective word. What may be passive to you may not be to me. Without 1st establishing what we all define as "passive" [which is the main subject here] is like debating about christianity using the bible to a non-believer who dont even give a damn about the bible. There is no common foundation.

To me, passive can be just answering work related emails and brokering between clients and freelancers working for me. For another it may be totally not doing anything and expecting the business to run.

        2. Merely stating that you can achieve this by finding good clients and good freelancers and then put them to work like a jig-zaw puzzle of your business is like saying in the offline world of business to just find the right industry/niche, find an office space, hire the right employees, do the right marketing, find good clients, and sit back and relax at your CEO desk and drink coffee with your legs on the table.
Even CEOs have lots of things to oversee, and its not passive..
A passive CEO will not last long, if he does, the company will not.

        3. And like what others say, its all about passion, without passion, even answering emails can be a chore and thus you will see it as non passive.

P.S - i love writing with exaggeration and lots of examples, pls dont see it as a rude challenge or insulting your ideas. Just here for the discussion or debate and sharing my thoughts. Nothing more nothing less.

        Peace !

You have a lot of good input here to consider. I would agree with what others here have said that nothing is truly passive to begin with, but once you get your business model set up - whether through outsourcing or doing it yourself - most of the suggestions you have here would require very little upkeep.
Whatever niche and method you decide upon, you definitely want to build a list. You can build a list very easily through practically any of the methods mentioned here on this thread. A responsive list is a veritable gold mine. Best of luck to you in your future endeavors!

    Hi there,

I believe that your best bet would be to invest in building your own business...

Such as: Finding a product to promote, driving traffic to that certain product, and receieve commissions off of that product! I would start by going to clickbank...

They have thousands of products you can sell and make money off of and driving traffic to your product isn't as hard as everyone says it is...

I drive tons of traffic everyday to my site...

    Just believe in yourself!

Being a reseller of a guaranteed service is one effective way of earning passive income. However this may require some effort on finding some good leads and converting them into sales. Afterwards, you can sit back, relax, and let that company do the work on your behalf. The good thing here is that when your customers are satisfied you'll probably have some more referrals! and then boom! Sweet joy of success.
