Do You Know The Average Conversion For A Sales Page In The Weight Loss Niche?

Exactly what it says on the tin..

Do any of you fellow warriors no the average conversion for a sales page in the weight loss niche?

I would assume average conversion %'s are different depending on what niche you are in?

I'd assume it is inversely proportional to the number of snack cakes sitting on the potential buyers desk.

In all seriousness though the weight loss niche envelopes a lot of topics, described and sold a lot of ways by a lot of different people. Even if you find the number, it means nothing to you and your business at all.

You won't get say a 4% conversion rate just because that is the average of the niche. Your own conversion rate depends on how much quality you provide, and how well you are able to sell.

This made me snort milk out of my nose I laughed so hard, so thanks for that, lol.

I think Joe's advice is spot on. Whatever the average is means very little to you because there are so many variables, especially with this niche.

I think he was trying to ask a valid question, point....that on this forum there are a lot of members making money in this niche, they should know this information.

Certainly he was trying, but without specifiying a large number of other parameters, it isn't an answerable one.

Not only are there countless different sorts of sales pages, products (e-books, memberships, courses, videos, etc.) but there are also countless different sorts of traffic (SEO traffic, PPC traffic, list traffic, targeted traffic, crap traffic, etc.), and countless different price ranges (all the way from about $5 to many hundreds), and by the time you put all those permutations together, the answers will vary (at least) twenty-fold.

It isn't really "information" - not, at any rate, in the form in which it was asked. The comment about the number of snack cakes on someone's desk was probably about as valid an answer as it's going to get ...

It would be great to hear some of these varied answers, if anybody has them?

Ryan, I already know a bit about the traffic, etc, that you are using (and I'm on your list) What sort of conversions are you getting, if you don't mind me asking? I have been wondering how it has been going since your other thread closed...

I offer two of them, then.

          (i) For a $97 e-book weight-loss product on ClickBank with SEO traffic sent directly to an affiliate-link to the product's hyped-up sales page, which was itself written for $97 by someone pretending to be a copywriter, has screaming bright red headlines and announces "only 19 copies remaining" and explains that "the price is going up tomorrow", and has a couple of exit pop-ups giving progressive discounts just for good measure as well, the conversion rate will be a big, round, fat 0.00000% and will probably stay that way for ever, without even the occasional "random sale" you might expect by chance alone, out of enough traffic;

(ii) For a $47 e-book weight-loss product on ClickBank with syndicated article-generated, non-SEO, ezine-subscribed traffic sent initially to the opt-in page (not a squeeze page) of a content-rich website, given a free report, and then treated to a slow-moving, consistent, continuity-based autoresponder email series establishing credibility, trust and respect, and then sent to the sales page which was written by a good, successful copywriter and has had many components split-tested, the conversion-rate could easily be as high as 20% (and in a lot of niches it could be even higher than this - but this thread's about weight-loss, which overall, understandably, has some of the lowest conversion-rates you can find).

I'm not in this niche any more, myself, I admit, and can therefore offer no better - but I think those are two realistic enough examples.

I can't give exact numbers, but, given the information in the OP, I'm confident that the exact number is somewhere between 0% and 100%...

Joe, I think that conversions for a weight loss product might actually be directly proportional to the number of snack cakes on the potential buyer's desk. :p

There's no way to predict it. And even if you had the data, a statistical average wouldn't mean anything, due to high variation between individual sales pages.

    Thanks for your reply's guys.

Just to be more specific (sorry I wasn't in the earlier post)

I'm currently selling a $20 ebook with a $47 package upsell (text and audio) and a $27 package downsell (text and audio)

MP80 my conversions so far are

    Sales Page conversion 3.22%
    Upsell Conversion 17.3%
    Downsell Conversion 8.6%
    EPC $1.01

The reason I asked is because tomorrow I'm going to start to go after affiliates and wondered if my numbers were good, bad or average because if they were pants I would have to drive more direct traffic in order to tweak the conversions so I can have more on offer to the affiliates I approach.

After all everyone thinks "whats in it for me" and I want to build long term relationships with my JV's and affiliates so both our business's grow in 2012 so I want the best I can get for me and them.

If that means driving tweaking conversions then so be it. It would be a lot easier if there was a definite number but I guess there isn't. I agree with what Joe Robinson said.

Thanks for the reply again guys

Just in case anyone isn't aware of it, bower looked into this area carefully, and the results were a bit discouraging.

There have been a couple of topics that mentioned serious buyer resistance in this market.
