Web stats and advertising

Hello everyone. I am new here. I have been hearing about this site for a while and finally checked it out. I feel like this is a great place to learn and I have learned already just by reading some posts.

I have launched a new website to target local fisherman for a certain area of the state I live in and I am doing really well. At least I think so. What I am curious about is ..when do I know when to go out and try to sign up some advertisers? What are some benchmarks for what local businesses are looking for? I have heard 10,000 visits a month is a start. I'm not there yet but expect to be next month. I guess I am just looking for some confidence in pitching my website to a business. I want to know that my website is worth their money.

Every niche is going to be different...some niches will get more traffic than others. If you are almost at 10,000 I think you are more than ready. Taking action and contacting businesses is way more important than waiting until you are at the "perfect number".

Congratulations on your success! Do you have a webform on your site collecting emails of subscribers and those reading your blog/website?

This would be very valuable, because if you have a list of readers, you are able to send out solo advertisements from your advertisers to the list of people who may be interested in their offer.

You can offer a free guide of some sort on your site in order to get subscribers. Even with a list of a a couple hundered, you can begin to offer this service to your advertisers.

    I hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestions! My site has a forum that you can sign up for so that's basically how I collect my email adresses. I am going to start talking to local businesses and building a relationship with them. Thanks so much!

    Hey lusher11,

Pick up these ebooks and you should be fine. Not only do you have to get those numbers, but you have to prove it.

Welcome to the forum. I don't think you have to wait until you're getting 10,000 visits. You should go out right now and start promoting your services to the offline fisherman in your neighborhood. If you need help on how to do this, check out the "offline marketing" section of this forum, and you will find exactly what you're looking for.
