Making a squeeze page for a product you don't own

I am a new into the list building business and have a question:

If you don't own the product you are promoting, how do you make a squeeze page?

You can't refer to it as "your product" or make claims on it right? That's one thing I never understood about this whole thing.

Why would it be necessary to refer to something as "your product?"

Why not simply say something like "I can give away this amazing product totally free if you sign up today" ?

Perhaps you could clarify your post.

You can make the visitor curious.

    Here is an example:

The squeeze page collects an email address for your list. After the person signs up they can be directed to whatever site/page you want. It does not have to be your own.

Without mentioning the product at all, normally.

By offering a niche-relevant "free report" (or some other suitable incentive) in exchange for the subscriber's email address.

I've never wanted to mention a product (apart from the "free report" or however you refer to it) on a squeeze page ...

Could not have said it better myself.

It isn't your job as an affiliate to sell the product directly - that's the owner's job. Your job as an affiliate is to deliver the prospect to the vendor in a positive, open-to-buying frame of mind.

You want to use your content, incentive(s) and follow-ups to take the seat next to the prospect, as a trusted adviser who wants to help them solve a problem or achieve a goal.

Just do some research and create your product such as a "Free Report". Write something and then do the following:

    1. Use a free pdf converter to create an ebook: PDF Converter - Convert to PDF Online Free

    2. Bang out a good looking ebook cover: 3D Cover Maker - Ebook Software - Create Unlimited Covers - 3D Ebook - 3D Ebook Covers - And More

    3. Then promote your new product to build a list with some squeeze pages. Try different squeeze pages. I use video in most. But do your own test. You can create a short promo video using screencastomatic.com.

    That should get you started.

Just build a squeeze page offering a free ebook or tips related to the affiliate product you're promoting. Once you acquire the lead, follow up on them via your helpful autoresponder and pitch the affiliate product that you're trying to sell.
