Should you ever stop scaling up a profitable website?

Around November last year, I decided to focus all of my efforts on one of my websites, as it was making much more than the other 3 I had. I think back then it was making around $300 per month.

Fast forward to April 2012, and I'm still scaling up this same website. I made a little over $1100 last month, and I'm up to around $700 this month, but I still feel like I'm barely scratching the surface. (In terms of scaling up)

I've barely tapped into Article Syndication or Forum Marketing, and these are big traffic sources. All my traffic comes from SEO, Blog Commenting, PPC and Social Media. Apart from SEO, I still think I can produce much more traffic from the other sources I mentioned.

I thought I would have focused on something new by now, but I still don't feel my website is anywhere near it's maximum potential. It's not a case of putting all of my eggs in one basket either, because my traffic sources are pretty evenly split.

I can't decided whether I should start something new, or focus on the same website until the end.

There are few ways to see what could be the maximunt potential of your site.. But honestly if would use 30-40% of your monthly earnings and investing in new projects.. my 2 cents

    Keep scaling it up.
Reinvest a portion of earnings to create another source of income.
That way you are not soley reliant on that website.

Using this alone could scale up your website by several orders of magnitude. For any given viable niche, there are millions of potential article syndication outlets. You have barely tapped into your websites' potential.

Why in the world would you ever want to stop scaling? Scale everything up as much as you can because the worst possible outcome is more traffic, which means more money. Never stop scaling man.

Yes, just by reading posts on this forum, I understand how powerful it is. I've tried in the past, but have had no success. I definately need to focus on it more in the future.

Scale up but don't spread yourself too thin. I made that mistake and ended up doing a lot more work than was needed.

Most of us have problems with being too scattered, or what some of us call "entrepreneurial ADD." Congratulations that you have kept your focus.

As far as when to stop, that really depends on the niche market and what you are doing. No one else can really answer that. I'd just say, stop only when you've exhausted the possibilities, or the effort isn't paying off anymore.

Why just distract yourself to move onto something else, and make the mistake so many others are making?

Maybe take 1-2 days out of your schedule and create an ebook for a WSO sharing what you did. Do you know how RARE it is to find someone making money like that, month-after-month?
