Ive been doing JV giveaways since October and if im really honest i wish i'd never done one. Yes as people say they are a great way of building a list - but are they really? With Giveaways it seems to be the very same people getting your free products and opting in to your mailing list and the same giving away their products. At first it added brilliant numbers to my list but thing of it this way the same people are seeing your product each time so the numbers are going to go down and down until you realise its really not worth the effort. I also find that the unsubscribes are very very high so a month after the event how many people do you actually have on your list? I'm not just talking about people opting in and then thinking i hate this newsletter im gone but simply as soon as they have the link they unsubscribe - why would you want this on your list. Well im a girl that likes to try new things and from posting one link to one of my free ebooks on Twitter i have added over 100 new subscribers in one hour and it hasnt cost me any time or money to do that. I also find now that people are put off by Giveaways from the amount of entries for items with really badly designed ebook covers and descriptions. I even visited one last night and found that there was not one product that was different from a christmas giveaway i took part in - so why should i bother. Like with lots of other marketing tools that we use i am happy to say that i have tried it and its not right for me. If i hadnt i would have thought what if etc. I'm sure the warrior members can think of at least one kind of mailing list promotion tool they have used that hasnt been that great? Sam X |

Have you ever participated in an Adswap? - that's a great way to build your list. Adeel |

Yes I do. It's where you basically promote another marketers free ebook, and they promote yours. So you're basically sending to each others squeeze pages. It's KILLER! - my last one got me 500 people in 3 days. |

thats a good rate then 5% is about the norm really on that kind of thing. When i started doing giveaways at the end of last year i got about that over 3 days but like i said at the beginning of the post a lot of the members on them want something for nothing and often unsubscribe before youve even contacted them.

Giveaways are only as good as the people that are in them and the quality of the products... As a giveaway event owner i see both sides of the coin and what makes a good giveaway is if you create it around or make it a real event/theme/niche and not the free for all type of giveaway where every dog and bone gets in... Kepp giveaways niche or event driven with only a few JV partners and demand that each one has a new product created and design for it...plus there are way to keep your new subscribers from just unsubscribing as soon as they get the download link but every niche is different so you have to find something that keep their interess. We offer bonuses and other free stuff when following up which really does bring down the unsubscribe rate a lot. It's a matter of getting creative... Giveaways are still a good option to building a list but you have to do that little extra to make it work for you. --David |

i totally agree i was looking at one yesterday and saw the same product four times and i often see ones with links to download that dont even work. Ive always used a different product in each ive never used the same product twice and its always been my own product or one that is been charged for elsewhere.

I have had been successful using giveaway events to promote free memberships or trial memberships, rather than offering a free book that may have been around a few times.
