Morning, Afternoon, or Night?

Hey Warriors,

When do you focus the best on IM stuff, and why?

Is it at night after the kids have gone to bed?

Or maybe the morning before everyone wakes up?

I was actually just thinking of posting this question. I definitely focus best at night, my girlfriend doesn't always agree with is but I usually end up staying very late (3am maybe even 4am) if I have nothing I need to wake up early for the next morning.

    All the time

Depends on when you feel you can produce the best. Personally I'm really unfocused in the evenings, you alone can decide when your performance is at it's best.

I´m definitely an evening guy and found that I can get the most important work done in the evening.

My mornings tend to start with lots of reading, exercising and research. That helps me to get in the right frame of mind for the entire day.

This might still vary from person to person.. I believe that you have to find your own flow, and of course the times during which you work BEST.

It depends on the work. I usually focus more in Morning.

At night when it is quiet and I am all by myself, such as right NOW!

It's a good reminder that I have to get back to work and not spend too much time in WF........... :-)

Nice! So there is someone who sips pina coladas on the beach all day

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who can mainly focus in the evenings. Even though I'm a "morning person" (I feel better if I dont drink coffee), for some reason it's easier to focus on IM in the evenings.

I have insomnia and chronic pain so I may be online at 3am or 12 noon. I do go to bed early though so mornings are probably my first choice.

I don't have a constant pattern - whenever I feel like working or whenever stuff needs to be done, be it morning, after noon, evening or night, I do it. However, I'm pretty sure that if I wake up early ~8:00AM, have breakfast and a coffee and start working, I would be so much more productive.

Since there's no option for "irregular pattern" I voted that I sip pina coladas on the beach all day

I have heard mornings are best and Tuesdays & Wednesdays, which come as a surprize as I would of thought evenings.

I would preferably like to have the fourth option, but I am just starting out and building my business. I would say at night though. That is because it is at that time that you have time to review all your work without new things bouncing in here and there , you get what I mean?

I definitely work best in the evenings.

I love working after everyone's gone to bed and there's peace and quiet

Being single and having no kids, I am fortunate to not have to deal with those time constraints (yet).

I tend to work best in the morning. I like to set a time limit on myself, and having the rest of the day off as a reward for completing necessary tasks is good enough for me to get everything done.

    Hi,

I've never been able to work in the morning... What ever I do, I'm not efficient... On the other hand I often finish at 1AM or 2AM. If not later. Which doesn't help me the next morning, of course

3am, 4am, 5am is just the best time for work as there are ZERO distractions.

Problem is, those times are exactly the most convenient for everyone else in the house.

My favourite time for focusing on IM is in the evening and into the early hours. I'm a real night owl and this is when I tend to crank out my most creative and productive work. This goes back to my uni days when I used to leave everything to the last minute and really have to burn the candle to get things done. Now I'm a bit older I do enjoy working in the morning too but working late and getting up early doesn't exactly go hand-in-hand.

Afternoon is the worst time I find because I feel fidgety and my body's telling me to get outside and do something physical. I try to plan meetings for this time or go for a run to burn off some energy so I can refocus on work later on.

Mornings for me. As soon as everyone is gone, the house is quiet and I get started. I work 11-12 hours a day. I take one week day off and only work a few hours on the weekend.

I agree that nights seem the best for work due to the least amount of distraction.

I don't have a particular time for work, I work when I feel like it, but not to be
misinterpreted, I feel like working quite a lot

I'm definitely not an early morning person. I begin work a few hours after I wake up, whatever time that maybe. I think I am most productive in the evening, when I am least groggy.

It normally depends on the day though. When I have a cup of tea, time seems irrelevant though

I work after my son goes to bed. Have to help my wife around the house and the earliest sometimes I can sit infront of my PC is midnight.

But no complaints - love spending my day with my family - thats why I choose IM over 9-5 jobs.
