Competing in a REALLY saturated niche

Hi guys

I've been following the 30 day programme on selling a clickbank product. The one I chose though seems to be phenominally popular.

It's called Rocket Spanish.

My site has had a smallish amount of visitors from my articles, squidoo and twitter efforts...

Any idea how I can really ramp up the traffic??

The answer lies in your response to the following question. It's one I aks myself each time I am thinking of creating or promoting a product.

"Why should anyone buy from you when they can buy from the competition?"

How do you compete in a saturated niche?

Start by targeting long tail keywords that attract buyers. Dig deep in your niche for keywords with medium to low competition (about 100k or less search results when searched in quotes). Then write articles and do SEO for those keyword phrases. This will ramp up your traffic.

By the way on your site when I clicked the Rocket Spanish review there is a broken link at the bottom of the article that says "more". When you click it you get a 404 error. You might want to remove it or fix it to increase your conversions. Adding a picture of the product would help too!

You should also get a big "Click Here To Visit Site button or make the text link stand out more. Right now it's just bolded. I didn't even realize it was a link until I moved my mouse over it looking for it. How do you expect to see good conversions?

I think the site looks good..I like the post from the 4HWW blog..I'm in Argentina right now trying to apply Tim's method. I'm not sure about 3 months...maybe 6

One thing, I want to see some spanish lessons on the site..good lessons will keep people coming back to the site. Give them some trust...then gently give'em a push to which product is the best to further their lessons.

Do you own or have you tried all of the products you're trying to sell? This will really help!

You could offer your visitors a free bonus with their purchase whether it be PLR or created by you.

Great idea with the USP - however - assuming that your product is the exact same (ie, just another commodity) as your competition, you can get around it by demonstrating the value better than other guys.

In this case, if you could "transport" your potential customer to the spanish speaking country of their choice (btw - a GREAT niche idea there... "Spanish for Spain", "Spanish for Mexico", "Spanish for Columbia", etc...). And then show them how much more they would enjoy their experience with a stronger grasp on the language... tell them how restaurants will be better, culture will be more accessible, how they won't get lost, how shopping will be more fun, and so on. Then you just point to your course as the easy solution to making this happen.

It's an old sales tactic - if you can place your customer in a position where they're already enjoying the benefits of your product, they are more likely to buy from you - even if its a commotidy.

The truth is that ANYTHING you can do to increase traffic will help in some manner. Don't forget all the little spots where you can generate traffic from, including having a link in your forum signatures, posting on "Spanish" speaking forums, write a review of the product and post to article sources, talk to friends and family, co-workers, the neighbors, visit local colleges where people learn Spanish and offer a student discount.

If you have to take out small ads in your local paper, ezine ads, or even online, then do it. Any ad that hits your targeted audience should take precedence over non-targeted prospects. Many small adds can be inexpensive and if there placed right will easily pay for themselves. Post number tear sheets on local supermarket bulletin boards. There is no reason why you cannot promote your products off line as well as online.

The main concern is not to "sit and wait" for traffic to come to you. Its like beating the bush to get the snake out. You have to be proactive in your marketing and work it.

Just use your imagination.

In the second post, in talking about Tim Ferris, you have that "Time is a phenominal blogger and writer."

Also, I don't know how it looks for others, but the body type is way too small. I would probably look elsewhere for a site that is easier to read.

My opinion is that you also need more content to build credibility. Your tagline is that "If you want to learn to speak Spanish Online, this is the place" but the content doesn't back that up. The first post that shows up right now is "5 Reasons You Should Learn Spanish." Well, if I'm looking for a site to learn to speak Spanish, I'm already sold on that idea. I don't need to learn why I should learn Spanish--I need to learn Spanish.

How about some actual Spanish lessons? There is no Spanish on the site that I can see. Everything is in English. If I want to learn Spanish, there's no stickiness on your site to keep me coming back. I might want a few lessons before I decide to buy a particular product. If you don't have any Spanish lessons on your site, I have to wonder whether you know any Spanish. And, if I'm wondering that, I'm also wondering how valuable your reviews (which are too short, in my opinion) are and whether you've tried them.

In my opinion, your site is not building any credibility with readers. As such, they are not likely to either make a purchase or tell their friends about the site. They come to learn Spanish, don't see anything that really offers them that, and they leave.

That's my $.02 anyway.
