If I do not make a site with lots of product reviews will that work?
I want to make a sports site with news, updates, articles. etc

    Yes that will work, you can monetize the site with adsense or banner advertising once you get the traffic.

        You don't want to build a site full of product reviews.

        Like you said, make a site with interesting news and unique articles will actually help rank your site better.

        Within your article, you can just insert your affiliate offer. But be sure, the article and the product are related.

        EX. Don't put a acne product offer in your baseball article.

    Yes. Choose the products carefully. Always pick out the best selling ones according to the results you will get. Quality is better than quantity because a customer won't buy ALL the products you are advertising.

    Its actually better these days to not just have a huge review-fest kind of site.

    Instead, do what you said you would- have articles, news, and good information.

    Then just have a few products/product reviews on your site.

    You could definitely setup an affiliate site on sports. There are so many products that you could promote that do not necessarily even need reviews (i.e. sports tickets, sporting equipment etc).

    If you are able to update content onto your website regularly and gain a following of people super interested in soccer, you could make money before you know it
