Creating and Selling ebooks

I have a few ideas for ebooks but don't know much about the business. Hopefully someone can answer some of my questions, thanks.

1. How many pages and words does most IM'rs write for their ebooks on avg.?

2. What are the most common prices they are sold for?

3. Where would a few good places to list/sell it be?

4. Is it very profitable?

Thanks in advanced.

I like to use open office or JawsPDF creator and save as pdf. To format images and graphics to the document I use a free tool called Pixel Ruler to get the right measurements.

Ebooks usually have between 30 and 100 pages. If the pages are too many, it can bore your readers. Not all persons are able to read lengthy text on a computer screen. When the pages are less than 20 it can be called a report.

    1. How long is a piece of string? E-books can be from 15 pages to 300+ pages. I've yet to see a consistent average. (Depending on what niche your targeting.)

EDIT: I wouldn't concern myself too much with I need x amount of pages. The most important part is making a clear outline that resolves your future customer's problem and fill it with valuable content. Whatever that may be in pages doesn't really matter as you've solved the person's problem, filling it with extra "fluff" to gain a few pages will only be detrimental.

    2) Same answer as number-one. Depending on what your writing about, length, quality you can sell from $5 to as much as the standard rate for a similar product.

    3) Depending on what type of book you wrote you can make your own site and promote it, kindle, affiliates etc.

    4) Same answer as number 1. Many make quite a substantial amount writing e-books while others make peanuts. Yes, it CAN be profitable...
