E-mail Marketing: Where Do Marketers Get Their FREE Offers and Ebooks From?

Hello,

I want to start building a list. I will be in the internet marketing/make money online niche. Now, I am subscribed to quite a few marketers, some from this very site, and ALMOST every time I open an e-mail from them, they have something free that they're giving away, like ebooks, reports, video, etc. Now, I don't believe that it's all THEIR products. Sometimes when I go to these pages, the ones who own the product is different than the one who e-mailed it to me. I hope that I'm making sense. I hope you guys know what I mean. Like, when you go to the page where they're offering some thing free, then you type in your name and e-mail address, then it either takes you to the page to get the free download, or it takes you to a page where you can buy something (upsale or main sale).

Anyways, I was wondering, where do marketers get all of these free resources from?

I know some of these things are their own products, but I don't think that most of them are.

Quite often they are re-worked private label rights (PLR) content.

Buying reports, books, audios and videos with a PLR licence often allows you to resell, giveaway and re-work the content.

You can PLR products from a variety of sources including

    Master-Resale-Rights
    The PLR Store
    Tradebit

There are others but these are a good place to start

    Hope that helps

I don't send traffic traffic to opt in pages anymore. I Do This instead...

Thanks for the resources! I understand about PLR but never really know where can I find them.

Yup, by giving away freebies is a way to increase traffic to your sites and eventually hoping that they opt in to your mailing list.

Check out any PLR site. Some are paid membership, some are free membership (in exchange for your email) and others you can buy what you want, when you want it.

Once you've got the product to giveaway or sell, you want to stand out from the crowd.

Make changes to the product including a new title, a new cover and change some of the content, making it your own.

They usually either create them themselves, or purchase PLR and change it up a little.

Yeah, they are using Master Resell Rights and PLR products.....it's great way to build a list and give them away very valuable reports and products !

Plus if you don't have your own products you can create by changing a little PLR products and put your name on.

Gurus do this all the time !

There are a lot of sites that they offer even free plr products.....just google it

Correction: people claiming to be gurus (they have to, because few other people who are actually earning a living will call them that) do that all the time.

In my business, it's absolutely essential for me to write them myself. There's no other way of ensuring the continuity (the key concept, here!) on which my all affiliate marketing is based, and setting the expectations of my subscribers, so that I can build a trust-based, respect-based relationship establishing credibility with them, so that when I recommend products to them, they'll then buy them "on the strength of the recommendation".

For a start, the "free report" (or whatever it's called) that I give them in exchange for their email addresses has to follow on from what they've read on my site, and include within it details of exactly what they should be expecting from me soon. How else am I supposed to make sure they all open and read my stuff? This is basic, fundamental stuff ...

This method is for people who will be satisfied with only 25% open-rates for the subsequent email series from which they hope to make sales and earn money. :p

It is usually the other way around,People label some marketers as Gurus.
That would be really silly for someone to call themselves a Guru:p

Wherever you need to. PLR, outsourced, self written, etc.

If you are at a loss, and you have some content available on your site, bundle all of your web articles together and give it away.

There isn't a lot of reason to complicate things. A few pages of solid content may be enough.

Some of them are undeniably pretty silly.

They tend to put stuff like that in the testimonials they give each other all the time, anyway ... so they try to make it look like it's what other people are calling them, but it's actually just a collective "themselves".

The ones recommending that you use re-hashed PLR for this purpose are typically silly enough not quite to have realised that the primary purpose of the "free report" is to maximise the open-rate and degree of attention their subsequent emails receive, by making sure there's continuity in the process. They'll just throw something different, that isn't part of their process at all, in-between the opt-in and their email series. And then wonder why so many people don't open their emails. And that's pretty silly, I think you'll agree? That's because they're sometimes just selling advice on "how to do it" - they may not actually do it much themselves, or at least not too successfully. Selling "advice" is easier and safer for them. And the schlemiels advocating exactly that really are quite often the ones collectively calling themselves "gurus".

You'd be surprised at just how silly people can be. There are even several members here with 'guru' in their usernames and tag lines. They had to enter that themselves.

As for using PLR for your freebie, I'm in camp with Caliban and Alexa on this one. Scanning my own drive, I can see that there is a small quantity of Private Label Rights content and a much larger quantity of Pretty Lame Refuse, which (if I were ethically challenged) I'd only give away under a competitor's name.

I downloaded a free package just to see what was in it. One of the files, on doing keyword research, actually advised people to use the Goto site.

              Really?

              Really?

But now i'm confused: You wrote "3. Don't assume that a squeeze page is the only way to build a list. It isn't."

So how should i gain subscribers without a squeete page?

A "squeeze page" has a few very definite characteristics, the chief one being that anyone landing on the page has only two choices - opt in or leave via the back button.

There are other landing page methods that work also. Often, they can work better.

One that I'm seeing more and more these days, at least on blogs, is to pin your opt-in offer and form at the top of your home page. When people land on your home page, whether it's via a link in an article, a search result, or something else, the first thing they see is what would normally go on your squeeze page. Then they get to see the normal 'home page' kind of stuff. If they choose to pass on the initial opt-in, there's an opt-in box in the sidebar and/or footer of every page with a summary of your offer.

In some niches, people have seen enough traditional squeeze pages to learn not to trust them. Doing something like I described gives them a different look.

If you want to go about it right, write it yourself, or outsource it. You shouldn't just send them one that has been floating around forever. Try to provide your readers with something valuable.

What you are talking about with an optin to get the free report are ad swaps - the marketer whose list you are on sends his or her subscribers to the optin page of another marketer, who then returns the favour with his subscribers. The idea is to increase the size of your list. You can find ad swap partners here on the forum Warrior Joint Ventures

Often, the freebies that 'gurus' give away to build a list are recorded interviewes (and the PDF transcript of them) with their buddies or other online marketers. It's a method to create a quick 'bribe' that also has unique content in it as opposed to PLR ebooks and reports.

Just create a book or some freebies yourself. Take a weekend out and do it. Then allow people to pass it around and share it on their website... and include affiliate links all throughout the ebooks so that you can make money in more than 1 way.

PLR membership sites. When I first got into this business, I joined about a dozen of them. Now I have hundreds of gigs of garbage all over my hard drive, covering just about every niche, which I am allowed to edit however I want and sell for any price whatsoever.

And when I price it fairly, it falls into one of two categories:

    1. Free. It's worth nothing. Take it.

These are what marketers use to build their lists.

    2. Less than free. It's actively damaging. I should pay you to take this from me.

These are what disreputable marketers use as bonuses. Reputable marketers delete them and hurry away as though nothing has happened.

For actually connecting with your list and building a relationship with that list giving away re-hashed PLR is a horrible idea. When you create your own product they get to know you as a marketer in a lot more personal sense. This is a win-win for everyone.

Have you asked yourself why you are targeting a list in the IM niche?

What are you really passionate about, and would it not be better to build a list of people who you can form relationships with rather than just trying to sell them the dream that you can get rich from the internet.

Far too many people are faking it in this niche, and the worst advice you can be given is to use PLR to build a list, yet every "newbie" course still spouts the same old crap. Be different and unique in what you do, and why not create your own unique free information product.

Ask Andrea, or anyone else here who has told you PLR is crap to do an interview on the mistakes that can occur if you listen to the bad advice in the newbie manual designed to keep you confused and buying more information products than you will ever need.

Even better, start recording youtube videos and writing blog posts. The more content you create the more you will find that people come looking for your advice rather than running away from your constant salespitches.

Hi you are right, these products are not their products and neither are these emails theirs too. Its just sent using the same name.

It's a method use to increase list size and fast too.

Giving out free reports may or may not improve your email open rate. If you're just giving free rehashed reports over and over again to readers (like yourself) will be able to tell if the report is truely yours.

If you do a google search for free PLR on the subject you are interested in then you will find loads of places to get stuff from. You can use open office to then create a PDF of any PLR and you have yourself a free ebook. Just make sure the PLR rights are OK with you giving it away as a freebie and if you can modify it and put your name to it.

Hello! I think most of them makes their own product. Their own products to sale or give away for free trial and stuff like that. But some don't own them. They usually purchase PLR and adjust somethings to use them for their own purposes.

Maybe I'm just picky. I've looked at a couple of PLRs and so far they aren't really good enough for me to want to put my name to them.
That said.... they have already been through the writing process and have a framework/structure to them that can often be re-used. That gives me a couple of things:
    1) a structure I can re-use
    2) a few topic prompts I may not have already thought about or perhaps want to swap out

So I think PLR has a place in helping to quickly create something of my own but it would have to be pretty good for me to be willing to use it as is.

You dont want circulated products because if you give a same product your competitor gave than you would be fired right away by a prospect. Give new and exclusive material to provide. Also keep in mind that the job of a internet marketer is to make sure that you list is the most taken care of.
