I have one website. This website has been running for 2 months and a half. It is an info website which means that we aim for a high traffic and lower conversion rates than average because people come to our site to discover and get an insight not to buy. Data: - 150+ blogposts, all of them writen by me and my partner. The blogposts are short (100-300 words) because what matters most in our niche is good images which we have. This means each day from Monday to Sunday we publish 2 or 3 posts. - The website has a cool and simple design. SEO: - I have done the necessary onpage SEO. - I have tried several services, some better than other but with not an overall satisfaction. Thanks to this our website is on page one for 2 keywords with 1000 Exact searches per month, which brings us maybe 2 o 3 visits a day from these particular keywords. - Every post is on the same niche but with different low-competition keywords. By building some backlinks with Onlywire and Social Monkee we have achieved that in the last 30 days, 23 of the targeted keywords are on page one and 150 are on top 100. This doesn't bring a lot of traffic from search engines so far, just 50 visits/day. - Google Webmaster Tool recons 1600+ backlinks Social Media and other traffic: - Facebook: 3000+ fans achieved through Facebook Ads (we target well and our website is interesting and have good ctr (0.1-0.2%). 80 visits/day - Twitter: 16000 followers, 6000 following. Used Fiverr for initial burst of followers (fake users that are mostly gone by now). Then have been using follow/unfollow system with acceptable results. 40 visits/day - Pinterest: Tried to use it in a natural way. Niche is not yet very popular on Pinterest. We have 330 followers and are following 800. Brings meagre traffic despite us being very active and 0 spammy (only 10% or less are our own links). 3 visits per day - Stumble Upon: This month started submitting our new content. Generally it has no effect or very little but there have been some traffic explosions. All in all it has brought as as many visitors as twitter this month. - Direct Traffic: 71 visits per day April Analytics April so far: - 316 visits/day - 1421 pageviews/day - 4.96% Bounce - Avg. visit duration 2:32 - International visitors (22% USA, 48% Europe) - Alexa Ranking: 2 million - Website Worth (according to Worth of Web): 2000$ - Pagerank Prediction (started publishing right after the last update) according to seomastering: 3.5 Monetization: - Adsense: Running at most 3 ad blocks. As it is an info site poor conversion rates (I think I am not allowed to say how low) - Amazon Affiliate: Some product and book reviews with links on the sidebar. Had just 4 conversions. An average of 8 clicks/day. - Shareasale: Same as amazon. Had no luck so far. An average of 1 click/day only because there are less than amazon. - Lijit: Started very recently and it is still soon to judge. BUt having only 22% of US traffic I think it is not going to work. I hope everyone enjoys such a detailed description. Please don't hesitate to ask more info. The thing is, I am not disappointed with what we have accomplished so far (taking in mind that we are/were not IM experts, just had some blogging experience). However, we aim much higher and we are looking for tips and advice, specially on traffic and monetization. All we have is a small monthly budget enough for some facebook ads and some backlinks and 200 hours monthly of our time. The main question is: How can we get to 60000 pageviews/day in 3 months? |

60000 pageviews/day is what we have estimated that we would need to live thanks to the website.

Create a cool free on-site tool that people would talk about. Like name generators or the infamous 'Marketing Bullsh_t Generator' script, or a converter, or some SEO tool. Then massively promote this tool in the blogosphere and on social media to get people buzz about it and voluntarily link to it. With such a method you could get the target pageviews. It's another question, if you could find a way to monetize that traffic, who would visit your site specifically for using your free tool. Maybe you could expand the freebie into a paid tool or service offering more features. |
