Hi

There may have been threads like this in the past on the forumn but i just wanted to ask a few questions;

I have an online shop using ecommerce selling products to customers. Is this IM? or is it IM with how i promote my site so social networking and Google?

The term internet marketing what falls within this bracket please?
  1. Is it building sites?
  2. is it selling ebooks?
  3. is it selling seo to customers to manage their seo aims?
  4. is it the technical side of the internet so blogging, seo, ppc, backlinks etcis it what im doing running a shop and joining twitter and pinterest and using ppc to sell my products?

Or is internet marketing everything to do with what is on the internet?

I see people writing their struggling to do IM and to make money through IM, what tools do people use for IM? How do people make money through it?

Im not wanting to know how to make money for myself as im doing my online shops, im just curious what people mean when they say their hitting brick walls or struggling to stick with one idea and see threads on how to make £3,000 in several days? what are people doing out there for IM as in what is IM and how people are making their money and large amounts of it with IM but by doing what? As it seems doing IM rather then running an online businesss selling bikes, candles etc doesn't seem the way forward with the internet or are they both different things.

Hope this makes sense.

    Hm......

Well I always tend to think that Internet Marketing has such a very very broad definition very much on the basis that it does not matter in my opinion whether you are a company selling sports clothes and training shoes online or weather you are selling make money offers or high ticket business opportunities you still fall within the internet marketing brackup as whatever your product or service you are marketing it on the internet.

The reason many are hitting their head against a brick wall again in my opinion is because often they have many very exciting not to mention very attractive products and services but what use is that if one has no customers to sell them too?

Everything online comes back to targetted traffic if you ask me and thats where your time is best spent learning as then with the right information you wont be hitting your head against a wall.

Marketing is marketing. The Internet is one of many media your business can and should use to generate sales.

But, the promise of "instant" riches has attracted people who see the Internet as a means to "get rich quick" without doing work, and without having any idea as to how business operates. This makes the learning curve become really steep.

New folks don't yet have any products, know how to build websites or set up an autoresponder. It also takes quite a while to become proficient at the art of writing sales copy that actually converts. There is a learning process that some are not willing to go through.

What many want is for the search engines to send traffic to their sites, sites on which the site owners have placed advertising. Most of the popular curation sites and news sites earn their "fortunes" from the advertisers who buy space on their sites.

    That too is IM.

What you are doing is also IM. You are using the Internet to sell your products.

If you think of a website as a sales brochure with a shopping cart attached, that website is marketing online - whether the site is selling jewelry, or pool tables, or ringtones, or information products is irrelevant. It is Internet Marketing.

You can use various methods to send people to that website -
    direct mail,
    space ads and classifieds,
    TV,
    radio,
    word of mouth,
    organized referral systems,
joint ventures with other business owners,
    banner advertising online,
solo ads purchased from other website owners,
    advertising billboards,
    signs on vehicles,
    window displays on busy streets...

    ...........................the possibilities are almost endless.

I suppose I.M. is totally different from one person to the next. Not everyone has the same views or experiences as someone else.

I know from personal experience that once you start to build a list everything seems to just make so much more sense than just hopping from one I.M. course to the next.

It all starts with the basics first I suppose and then it is just a case of understanding the process of the business model you are steering towards and just upping the efforts towards your business once you start seeing some decent results.

    Hope this helps in anyway

It's just like the term "video game."

    1. It is a game

    2. It uses video

    That's it.

So "internet marketing" is the same way.

    1. It is marketing

    2. It uses the internet

Internet marketing is one of the fast growing areas of advertising. Search engine ads, pay per click placement and banner ads are traditional ways to get potential customers to a website. Social marketing, using sites like Twitter and Facebook, are indirect way to market your company on the internet. As the internet continues to grow, new ways are constantly emerging and internet marketing should be an important part of a companies marketing plan

I would also like to say that IM has a lot of aspects and could be very different or biased from one person's point to another. At least, that what I got now. Maybe, I read too many. Abundant sources about IM that's easy to find cause it easily to get you overwhelmed.

I'm not a guru, so I would put IM simply as marketing any products or service using the internet. Just exactly like CDarklock said.
