I'm a big believer in the keeping to the basics. There are many people out there that feel they have to do the most complicated of things, otherwise there not doing the right things. More often than not, it's the simple basics ... the fundamentals my friends that are the real driving forces behind success. Many people either get away from them or never get to them. Think about how Ray Kroc created McDonalds ... they don't have the best and biggest burgers (BY FAR!) ... they just follow a simple basic system each and every time and that's why they have grown to the size that they are. Keep to the fundamentals and try not to get so caught up in the hype that most people are selling online. Keep rising to the TOP! Eric~ |

I often end up shaking my head at a lot of people who do the most ridiculous things to get money. Keep it simple! A very good point and well made! |

But so also most fast fast food businesses who stick to some basic process. McDonalds was the first movers and had the first movers advantage. They also found a need, the speedee service system, and filled that need. Others like burger king etc. copied their success and did very good as well.

I was gonna say both rely on armies of unskilled labor - canon fodder basically - to keep the machine moving. |

I read a quote somewhere that "McDonalds is a multi-billion dollar business run by teenagers and old people" - the point being that when you create processes that anyone can follow, your costs go way down, and you can charge rock-bottom prices, and still make a killing. Even the lowliest diner needs a "chef" - someone who has been trained and knows how to prepare meals. McDonalds (and many other fast food chains) have such streamlined processes that a teenager can be trained for a day and a half, and be able to make everything on their menu in under a minute. The same applies to many of us. If we can build a business with processes that nearly anyone could be trained to follow, we can outsource much of it for low prices, and make a killing. |

Sure it helps McDonalds was the first on the scene, but yes they systems sure pay off. Branding has to be a big part of it as well. Funny how BK's burgers are better, yet they are dead here and McD's is almost always packed. We even know the food is bad for us, yet the drones keep piling in. Think I'm getting off topic. |

If you really want to learn about Mcdonalds buy a book on their company. I bought this book from Chapters up here in Canada, I don't remember the exact title but it was completely red with the Golden Arches on the front and talks about the rise and history of Mcdonalds. It is a great book about business and franchising and if I remember correctly it was written by one of the CEO's of Mcdonalds. And then read The E-myth by Micheal Gerber. The E-myth is a must for anyone wanting to start a business. Thanks Shane_k |

How is McDonald's like MLM? Neither one allows you to do anything creative. You MUST toe the company line or face severe consequences. You don't really "own" your own business, just the right to follow someone else's rules. The difference between the two? I like McDonald's. All the best, Michael |

Ray developed the system before he even tested his first burger. That being said if you have a system, you should be able to plug in any affiliate or other product into that system and sell it and make money. Dont deviate from the proven system.
