Helping a newbie

1. Hostgator. I heard Go daddy is horrible with hosting.
2. Wordpress

You can't go wrong with Hostgator.

And Wordpress definitly.
So many free plugins to help with SEO and such.
And so much easier to maintain and update than a straight html site.

Hostgator is good for web hosting. And if you are going to use wordpress, they have a quick install feature to get your setup fast.

I use GoDaddy but, i wouldn't recommend them to anyone else. I have to wait 2 months until I can move my domain over without having a long wait period, so I'm sort of stuck. Good luck though.

Hey Amy, I would recommend using host gator as they a very trustworthy hosting comany to invest with, they have excellent customer support where they help you answer questions that you may have with your cPanel and website tech stuff. Wordpress would be extremly suggested as it is the top platform almost every internet marketer uses to build there great looking websites, it is user friendly making it fairly easy to use and includes various plugins, widgets and templates you can start using to create a website. I honestly use all of this platforms and services for my business and I recommend you to use it as well.

I would go with Hostgator for your hosting and Wordpress for content management. You will easily find strategies in this forum to help you with your traffic goal and other questions you may have. IM rules - good luck!

Im using godaddy for hosting.
And you can easily creat a website with three Adobe softwares : Fireworks, Photoshop and Dreamweaver. This is how I created mine and I have no issues with it.

In the UK? Just Host.
In the USA? Hostgator.

Like everybody else says, unless you're an A1 web designer - Wordpress!

I use Hostgator for all of my hosting. They have 24/7 customer service and they have always been very polite and efficient.
I use WordPress because it is so easy to install and they have some cool plug-ins that will help with SEO.

Hostgator is definitely a better option than GoDaddy. I use Hostgator, and I love it. No problems, whatsoever. Also, I have heard many, many bad things about GoDaddy. My recommendation is to stick with what people love and what is popular - Hostgator.

Also, without a doubt, Wordpress. Wordpress make creating sites so easy, and with the custom plugins and premium themes available, you can use Wordpress to create literally anything you could want. Definitely Wordpress.

Hi Amy. Hostgator is better IMO. I have been buying from them. They are cost effective too. And Wordpress is the way to go if you do not know any codes. They are highly customizable with lots of theme and plugins. Plus they are SEO friendly also. It meets all your requirements

First of all congrats on taking action and setting up your plan on building your first website. When it comes to hosting Hostgator will be great. Now on deciding whether to do a wordpress or html site it really depends on the type of website you want to have.

If you want to build a blog where you will be building yourself or a brand then wordpress will be great since it is a blog friendly platform and you will be able to find a lot of help when it comes to the coding part.

And html site is not so blog friendly and more for traditional type of sites mostly used for promoting affiliate products or getting into specific low competitive niches. The choice is yours but make sure to start writing down the vision you have for your site so you can have an idea of what you want to do exactly.

Once you know exactly the type of site you want dedicate some time and find someone who has been able to achieve what you want to achieve and learn from them. There are many successful people online who share their experiences in their blogs so keep an eye out for them.

Roll with Yahoo Web Hosting and use their tool called Yahoo Sitebuilder.

I recommend using HostGator.com to host your website and if you don't have a website use GoDaddy.com to buy a domain name... when you have a domain name and you've host it use wordpress to design your website and also optimizepress so you can install themes.

1. I use nameCheap - I think they have very good service, great price with fee Whois, cpanel also great, and also have a tool to serch domain name and advice other incase that name not avaliable. Just courious why not much people in this forum talking about nameCheap,

PS: Does anyone have experience on Joomla?

Interesting read and I believe that here I will be able to learn more about marketing and how to host properly, as I travel a lot and right now in Africa a good host is a must.

As most people have already suggested, hostgator is very reliable, and you'll be best off using them. I have very rarely experienced any problems with them, despite using them for quite a long time now.

WordPress is the way to go as website development is concerned. There are so many codes and themes available for which you don't need any experience or expertise. Pus, there are great tutorials available online for free too.

Same as most warriors, Hostgator and WordPress for me.

For WordPress, I use Thesis and OptmizePress themes. They are not free, but they are great.

Use wordpress. I am not good with code, but it is so user friendly, I can easily create one. There is a bunch of plugins that help you with the site.

They are other traffic driving methods that I learned for my list building site, will work for you too as it can improve the backlinking to your website.
You can try article marketing, video marketing, classified ads, guest blogging. Although these are all great traffic sources that I used to drive traffic for my list building, no doubt these are all great backlinks for your site too.

I'd recommend you to use hosting from aspnix or marblehost companies.
They provide reliable hosting services at low prices.

If you want to use a blog you don't need a paid host, just use blogger or other blog hoster.
If you want to have your own domain (not a subdomain) just try hostgator, they are pretty good.

Domains: Go Daddy
Hosting: HostGator or Bluehost (love the latter's customer support)
Platform: WordPress (why would you want to spend your time coding when you could be spending it in other more productive ways? Also - make sure to grab the "Broken Link Checker plug-in to alert you to broken links.)

Wordpress is great because you can have so much more flexibility with the design, then go after the domain from bluehost. Write a ton of great content, become an expert at social media marketing, then watch it rain.

I was on Hostgator today, they pretty much did all the set up for about 10 gigs worth of downloads for different projects

they are amazing for service, and I got unlimited domains, upload capacity too
