New Business Model Idea

hello,

So I had an idea to separate myself from every other seo out there. I will use my years of sales experience to add another layer of income stream which will allow me to target otherwise useless terms

So here it goes:

I will target low traffic but very highly targeted keywords like Los Angeles Proctologist. I figure these have to have high conversion rates, who is gonna type in Los Angeles Proctologist if they are not looking for an appt.

As these keywords are usually avoided by IM's because they only have 200 - 300 searches a month ranking high will be quite easy i assume.

Then I will monitor the adsense adds on my site, any proctologist running an ad is clearly an "online player" and I will call his office lookig for whoever runs his online campaign. My goal would be to setup an 800# on my site that directly goes to his office and I will charge him $50 - $100 per appointment booked.

Here are my questions:

#1 is ranking for low volume search terms like this as easy as it would seem?

#2 I know nothing about how google local search works will they make sure my site is incapable of being #1?

#3 is anyone else pursuing a business model similar to this and have any tips for me?

thank you alll in advance.

Hmm... the best tip I can give is that you actually go do it. There are similar business models but really, just do it.

#1 It's more of the question of competition, not search volume.

#2 They won't "make sure" - you can always buy a domain name, and create a listing with your address and rank that. I have tried that and at least temporarily it helps.

#3 Yes there have actually been WSOs based on a similar model - I think "Offline Rockstar" or something like that is the most popular one.

I think the google map directory can also be problematic ... no?

I think a better way to do this is to rank number 1 for the keyword, than charge him monthly to have a good review for his website and information to contact them.

    Me too! Here's my plan:

    1. Stop doing SEO

Works great. Now that I don't care where I am in the SERPs, I don't ever get Google slapped. That sure is a load off my mind.

Plus, I can use all the extra time to eat burritos

Weird, for some reason here is another post of yours I agree with.

For instance, one of my sites has built me a list of over 1000 subscribers without any SEO.

But I think everybody else should focus there, it frees up space for easier traffic generation.

not every model and niche is list building friendly, what would be the point of building an email list for a local proctologists office?

          Is that a serious question?

Just in case it is, I will answer it for your.

In any business, the customers are the most important aspect to cultivate. So your goal needs to always stay in communication with your customers.

Unless you have a billion dollars for mass media, sales reps on every corner, and 100 years of recognition as a company, you need to be able to do this is cheaply and effectively as possible.

So email, phone, SMS and direct mail are some of the basic tools you'll use for that purpose. But I guess you already knew that.

Exactly how would you know if he actually booked an appointment? I would charge a flat fee instead of trusting someone to be honest about their bookings.

This model is being done every day.

The only thing you will want to do different is to charge for "calls forwarded", rather than "appointments made".

As Suzanne pointed out, you should not set up your clients to be incentivized to deceive you.

You can set up a call-forwarding service that rings through a phone number you rent online to your client's number, and the service will document those phone calls on your behalf.

Charge according to the number of times your client's phone rings, as a result of the work you have done, instead of by any other measure of productivity.

You can try this 2 ways I can think of-

    1) Renting out the site (once it's ranking high)

    2) Setting up a number (as you mentioned), where you get commissions from leads. For this you just have to make sure the person gives the doctor's admin assistant some kind of code to identify them as a lead from you.

As far as how easy it'd be- it depends. Going for doctor/lawyer keywords in big cities will be a lot tougher than in smaller cities.
