Can Google and other SEs index your membership pages ?

Hi,
I am developing a site that has some "public" pages and
some that are only available if you register and then login.

Does that mean that Google and the other SE can not
index those pages that require a login ?

That is correct, if the pages require a login, then the pages will not be indexed.

      Thanks for the reply.

So that means that their is no point in wasting time
making SEO friendly urls with mod_rewrite for member pages.

Nor worringing about keywords or any SEO stuff for
      member pages.

      Is that about correct ?

Yes, that makes sense to me.

If the pages require log in then Google can't index them, unless it is a WTF implementation of log in (also known as broken). Note if Google can index a page or file then everyone else can access it without logging in/paying.
