Changing profile as visitor within WordPress

We have been thinking about the following feature on our WordPress website. We would like to set up some accounts as 'artists' on our website. Every post will be about a new music release of a certain artist, for example:
[Release] Afrojack - Stir it Up [Wall Recordings]
This post will contain information about the artist 'Afrojack' --> This information like biography, Twitter URL, Facebook URL and avatar will be added through his user account. We include this information as a widget on this post. BUT, the main problem is, there are thousands of artists and some of the information get outdated some day.
The idea is to create the feature for our visitors to edit the information of a certain artist. (Basically, they get the possibility to edit the user profile details of a certain artist). Due the different user levels within WordPress we we're wondering if it is possible to add this option, so visitors (without being logged in) are able to edit the information of the artist - but this information should be approved before it goes 'live'.
Is there a plugin for this, or any other recommendations to realize this?
Currently we are using the profile builder tool to include the option to edit their information via the frontend.
