Hi,
We sell a high ticket physical product via our site, and collect leads for the product using email capture forms on the site.
What sort of signup rate should we be getting?
Also, should we focus on increasing conversion or increasing traffic?
Thanks
B

Increasing traffic will increase your conversions. I learned this in a couple of ebooks that I picked up at We Profit Online - 100% FREE Internet Marketing eBooks! Download Today!

Both, you need volume of traffic to get conversions. But you're copy should be powerful enough that your CR is high. Asking for averages is the wrong way of thinking about it. We can't tell you what the average is because they're too many variables.

Once you have a good conversion rate THEN you can go ahead and increase your traffic.
That is a general rule and makes a lot of sense.

Both are very important. If you want to be professional then you should look to increase your conversion first to an acceptable level and then increase your traffic. If you want some quick results then you should increase your traffic but many times this doesn't mean you'll increase your revenues.Anyway you do you should keep these two things in balance.
