Let's say you are in a specific health niche educating how to treat the problem, but you have never had this problem yourself.

Say you have a static homepage that you want to promote a clickbank product on. Is it a good or common strategy to create a persona, with a name and create a story about how you had the problem, your struggles, why you did to overcome it etc... To connect and build a relationship with your visitors, making it more personal??

Or is it more effective to just be anonymous and write about the problem and what can be done, being more professional.

Again this would be for promotion of a CB product. As well as an opt-in to build a list in the side bar.

Anyone have any experience with this, is it common or even a good idea?

Thanks

If you write from personal experience - you should have that experience. Otherwise you are writing fiction and calling it fact...a/k/a...a lie.

You can present the points and advantages of a product without making up a story about your success in treating an illness you didn't have

I would not write some thing that was not true even if I was anonymous or if I used another persona's name.

I would use truthful testimonials (if there are any) or just talk about the benefits of the product.

People love to hear stories, and it is an acceptable marketing practice even if actual cases are not true. FYI, using "real" testimonials in promoting medical products may be a violation of patient privacy regulations in the US, unless you can obtain explicit release permission.

You may perhaps create an author persona, establish credibility within your niche, then personify typical results of the product using fictional characters. However, you must also include disclaimers stating the article is for information only and to consult competent medical advice before proceeding. If your article(s) are under syndication, you may choose to have these disclaimers on your presell/review page.
