What is pinging?

How do you do it on a wordpress site?

I had a consultant tell me not to ping and just let Goggle find things naturally, what do you think? Is pinging good or bad?

    With a wordpress site you really don't need to ping it as they typically get indexed quickly, within 24 hours on most occasions.

    If you start building links then they will crawl your site that way as well. I never ping my new sites I let the search engines find it naturally.

    Do not ping. The best way to get indexed quickly and rank quickly is to set up a blogpot blog and post to it often. Also build some backlinks to it. Then when you write a post on your wordpres blog post the link on a post on your blogspot blog.

    You will get better results if google finds your link from high authority site rather than from a ping.

    I use this techniques and my blog posts show up in google instantly.

    Getting indexed naturally is good for the site. ut ou can also use a free service like Pingoat to ping.
