Please read - Losing job so need to use my time effectively

Ok guys, this is the deal. I've had to leave work and have around 6 months to prove I can do this. A little over 8 months ago, I stumbled across IM and made a few mistakes before creating a site that now earns approx $6 per day. It took 6 months to get to no 1 in Google for my keyword.

I need to earn $100 per day, so I need to come up with a good plan, quicker than I've been working.

My method is to find a niche, create a WP site, purchase a domain with my keyword and then write articles for directories, web 2.0 properties etc. Then I monetize using Adsense.

With my current earnings, I would need to set up at least 15 niche websites in 6 months, which is not realistic. Or is it?

I'm worried about outsourcing as I don't want to spend money I haven't got. I've worked on my current site around 7 hours a day, so maybe some of you can advise on how I can use my time more effectively. Someone on this forum wrote a post a few weeks ago about finding a niche, writing articles and earning money within a day?! If this is possible, maybe I'm not using my time effectively.

Thanks.

J

The truth is jodie, there will always be certain people who can earn money very quickly with aff marketing. The biggest problem is that "MOST" people will not earn money quickly, especially if they are not willing to spend a little money. For every one person who makes it, there are thousands that don't (even more actually)

I was doing "more or less" what you have been doing for about 8 - 10 months and realized that there are far more effective ways of making money online than building site after site and writing until your fingers are numb.

There's way too much B.S out there. Six months is NOT enough time to create a risidual online income for 99% of the people out there...that's a fact, and any a**hole that jumps on here and tells you different is one of those people responsible for distributing the crap information that keeps the failure rate so high.

You heard it many many many many MANY times before that the money is in the list (or the relationship you have with your list) and this is 100% accurate and the only push button money system out there at the moment.

I'm not saying that you can't do it, but to depend on your plan of attack is foolhardy as the chances of not meeting your goals far outweigh the chances of you meeting them.

To prove my point...you have already been online for 8 months and are miles away from $100 a day...but yet you want to achieve 10 times more than what you achieved in 8 months....in 6 months.

I woke up after 8 months to this truth and within a couple of weeks I had made more than I ever did online...combined.

The best way forward in my opinion is to...

    1) find a very high quality offer
    2) create a sqeeeze page to capture leads
    3) drive traffic to that sqeeze page through solo ads/banner ads etc
    4) Build list...provide incredible value to your list for free to build a relationship
    5) start to promote your offers after 7 days of them getting value from you.

This is a FAR more sensible approach to making money online. It's quicker, you do less work, you create a long term business with your list, and most importantly, you shift from an OPPORTUNITY SEEKER to an ENTREPRENEUR.

Just make sure you do your research when going down the solo ad road, there's BS there also...who knew

For no. 3 can you use the article/web 2.0 method for driving traffic to the squeeze page or is this a waste of time? Are ads the only way to send good traffic to squeeze pages?

For no. 5, do you use Aweber to append automatic emails after 7 days?

      Thanks,

Adsense is dead fish unless you have tons of traffic visiting your site - and i mean thousands per day! Better to sell a product from clickbank or simply think up something unique. I read on this forum something about a guy who blogged about a top facebook game. He was writing tips and cheats on it. Took him a while, but he started to get million hits or more and eventually sold it for $5000 - i think. And the buyer flipped it a few months later for $20000 lol! But hey! Good luck.

Hi Jodie, I'm sorry to hear about your situation with your job.

But, congratulations for getting your other site to a position where it is earnining consistently!

How is it currently making money? You mention Adsense as part of your plan with other sites, is this one monetized that way too?

In which case, I suggest you look up some relevant, high quality products to promote to your site visitors. Sure, you won't get paid everytime they click on the link- but when they do convert the reward is much sweeter.

I would also suggest building a list if you haven't already, offer a report or free bonus to capture subscribers. You can then keep these people updated with regular, well thought out emails, and occasionaly (that's my golden rule anyway!) suggest products to them, from which you would make an aff. commission.

Whatever you do, I wish you the best of luck. The fact that you're already doing well suggests that you have what it takes, so I'm sure you'll do great!

      I have three websites:

      1. Educational courses website earning $60 per month
      2. The baby activity station website in my signature. Uses Amazon affiliate links. Only made $10 in the last 6 months.
      3. A computer related service website, but making no money.

You see, Adsense i find easy to use because writing emails to maintain relationships is not my strong point. I just feel I wouldn't have the ability to sell.

Is there a step by step guide on how you build lists and market affiliate products to them? I used Pat Flynn's niche website duel, which documented every step to create a successful Adsense site, which I found really useful.

Jodie, there are different ways to make money online, the best is to create your own product - a course (video, pdf..) for example, list it on Clickbank and as WSO and have affiliates selling for you. You can outsource it for a small amount.
First thing to do is to find a profitable niche, than do a keyword research, which is very important.

For a fast track, you can start as an affiliate for top quality products. Please take a look at a web page of one of the most honest people self made multimillionaire -John Thornhill - and I suggest to buy his $67 offer - it is a one time payment, always stay away of monthly fees.

This $67 package probably will help you to achieve very fast more than $100 a day if you are focus, have a plan and work a few hours a day.
The web page is multiprofitmonthly dot com. There is another package for $97, but you should stay with the $67 package - after reading both offers you will understand why this one.
John is a very nice guy and will help you.

Beware that in this forum are people giving wrong advise and trying to sell questionable products.
Also avoid the distraction of too much information, follow a very successful, honest and helpful person like John. Another great benefit for you, John is from UK as you are, you can even speak with him over the phone if needed.

      Hey Jodie

If you've got affiliate products in micro niche with less competitive words, you should be able to get ranked more quickly?

So is it your chosen keywords that are the problem or the keywords are not buying keywords or you are aren't getting enough traffic?

I learned the hard way like you - What not to do. I ended up earning a lot from Offline businesses who wanted me to put what I did know, into practice for their business. Either building professional looking sites (I already owned Premium themes) or doing their SEO.

I've learned that you can improve your ranking with free actions provided the onsite and offsite elements are correct.

With the ever changing Google its even more important to use the strategies that work.

I've just been working on a Free wso that offers a spreadsheet to open and keep record of your social media and web 2.0 accounts. This is all I did to get several business on page one. Those that required multiple keywords in multiple areas on page one, required a different strategy on their sites (but that's wso 3 )

How did you choose your keywords and what is converting for you? These are important factors to consider.

      Hope that helps a bit

        Thanks Leah.

I chose my keywords based on research in Market Samurai. The Adsense on my educational courses website converts around 3-4% and is now attracting around 100 unique visitors per day.

Ive read on here so many times to learn one process at a time, so I'm scared to try other techniques such as creating my own product, creating squeeze pages and building lists because I feel I haven't mastered Adsense yet.

          Well Jodie

Adsense is all about content and having the keywords in the right places. The only other thing to really learn about Adsense is how to choose the right keywords that attract high CPC's with low comp.

          So what about this:
Do any of your keywords especially those attracting traffic, relate to a problem or a solution?

If yes, have you searched online for a product to promote? Eg an ebook about the right Educational Course or How To Master Revision or something along those lines?

Because you could simply add an Aweber sign up form offering a free report - which would be something you could research and write in a day when you focus - then you would just write a few emails and promote within those the products you've found.

Or if Aweber is too much right now, just add the products to the website in the sidebar or on a product review page featured in your sidebar.

Have you checked the competition for your keyword in Market Samurai? You could reverse engineer what they've done and get your site ranked higher.

You know Jodie, many people try hard and get caught up with too many things. You've actually done well to stick to a core part of IM and work just on that but

Adsense successes come often with multiple sites or some have a mini team of writers just pumping out stuff day in and day out.

If you had 30 of those type of sites earning $60 a month you'd have $1800 which is nearer your target but if you spend 7 hours a day on one site, that is impossible to achieve.

Some keywords can get ranked within a month just using some simple free web 2.0, article submissions and social media (more important now).

          Right here's the thing Jodie

You know how to build a WP site
You know how to optimize the site for your keywords
You know how to research for keywords that you can rank for
You know about social media/article/web 2.0
          You do your own writing

You can therefore monetize your site for any niche, product, cpa offer or whatever

The main skill is in choosing the right niche/keywords to target & checking out the competition - choose buying keywords - something that solves a problem, something that the searcher wants or loves eg hobbies

The next most important factor is to ensure that the niche/keyword contains a product to promote - yes I'd use your talents now for product promotion as you will get a better commission than you can get with Adsense

Conversions are anticipated at a rate of 1 buyer per 100 visitors and if you're earning $30 instead of cents, you will make more money

Go for 1000 searches per month (local)
Scan the Google search page using SEO Quake (free in your firefox browser) and just check the sites, what they are offering, how they are monetizing and check their page rank, age and all that - you can of course use MS for this but a visual look over is important
Reverse engineer your competition (as above)

          • Choose a main keyword with those 1000 searches
          • Then choose related keywords /keyword phrase with 800 or above searches
          • Write your content and post over 2 weeks - you can schedule automatic publishing of your posts in WP admin
          • Start writing some decent articles that relate to each keyword
          • Add a 'write for us' area to your website and get others to help you add content
          • create a FB page and when you get visitors talk to them, encourage them to add content to your site - promote the idea by tapping into their ego
          • Set new articles to publish, rewrite and add to ezine
          • after ezine publish, rewrite and add to a web 2.0 property, add an image make it look good - link to your site page and the home page
          • rinse and repeat

Do you have 7 hours to dedicate to your business every day? If so, make a plan

          Keyword research for 2 hours
          Build a site
          Write for 2 hours

          Etc

Get one base install of WP prepared and if you have a backup plugin back it up and download.

Then you can use the same base install for each new blog you build or

Create the site in Fantastico or Simple Scripts, then upload your Base Instal Plugins folder using Filezilla

You need to automate as much as possible and rotate the sites you are working on

You can do it, setting goals will help

Start at 6 months goals/target and break it down into what needs to happen each month/week/day

          Hope that helps

Make steps, spend 7 hours making a plan and planning a strategy - then do it

With what i know about online marketing, i would suggest you first take inventory of what you know and don't know. From that list use it to do your research on clickbank, amazon, magazine.com, different sites that sells digital products. See if anything jumps out at you peaks you interest that will help motivate you to move foward. If there are products selling then there is money to be made even if it is compitive.

Once you find products that are selling look at how, what, who, what benifits they are using to sell the prouct, how it is deliver, the format they are using. This vital because you are going to use this to model your product after, not copying but improving on what they are doing.

Yes are going to develop our own product.

Why...well it takes just as much time and energie to do affiliate marketing as it does to create and profit from your own products.

If you are not an expert find experts to help you create the content for the product, frontend and backend.

One way of doing this is interviewing the expert, turn that into an audio file, get it transcribed, if you can do videos on the process if your expert is talking about systems that would be good.

You have to remember some people like reading some like videos and some like audios, you are covering all areas.

Next create a website using wordpress, get your salesletter create or sales video, get your payment provider hook up to your sales button. This is tje key here your main goal is to create a customer list so you can sell to over and over, so you should try and do a 100% type of sale on the frontend product and share the upsell 50/50 with affiliates but remember to money is in the list.

The key element is you dont need to worry about traffic your jv partners will deliver that for you and it will be primed to buy.

Everyone say start with affiliate marketing but the hardest part for a newbie is getting traffic to the offers, no traffic means no money plain and simple...

    Hope this helps

Jodie, Adsense use to be great, not anymore, a lot of competition, constant work, low income. As today, it is the worst way to make money in IM. Of course there are a lot of not so honest fox trying to push it and sell all king of products about it. There are always buyers - naives, newbies.

Having your own quality product, for example an eBook, you have it on Clickbank and a lot of people will promote it for you, it is a chain reaction, each affiliate is having a list of subscribers and they are in IM business promoting it. You have people "working" for you. Nobody get rich being employed or working alone in her/his business.
Same ebook you will offer for a lower price in WF as WSO - there are people making a lot of money this way, use W plus for affiliates in WF.
Same eBook can be published on Amazon CreateSpace and KINDLE, also on NOOK, iBookstore, etc.
It is a one time work with a huge exposure and residual income.
Creating JV is another great way to sell products we own.

We all are different, but I'll never spent my time for peanuts like Adsense. I always evaluate the ratio effort - results ($). Why should I go on the avenue of having a farm of web pages to take care of them daily when I can have more money for far less work?

PS Did you take a look at the $67 package I mentioned? Keep in mind I'm not an affiliate, just trying to help, for this reason there is not a link. Maybe $67 will make a big difference in your IM and in your life.

Whilst I agree with you that sites using thin content to get ranked in the SERPS and using Adsense for income are getting their rankings slapped (and rightly so), I think using the catch-all term 'Adsense niche sites' is erroneous.

There is no reason why a quality niche information site wouldn't do well, though as per my earlier post, I don't believe that AdSense is the best monetization strategy (at least not on its own).

This is for sure the best post and information. Thanks for your professional advice, I completely agree. This is what separate the real IM pro from the strugling crowd.

Any person serious about starting a good online business should take notes and take action.
      I would add:
      - must have a plan, discipline, focus, determination, work on a single project than move on, start with the less demanding as time and money (if outsource something);.
      - enter in JVs (joint ventures).

Thanks Kay King. I usually spend weeks finding a niche, which is probably why the whole process takes so long for me. I only ever find a high volume search keyword with low competition criteria only once in a while. For my computer service website, I found a great niche keyword that appeared very lucrative in Google Adwords. It only took a week to appear in the top 10 results for this keyword and although I receive lots of traffic, no one clicks on the Adsense links!
I think you are making it harder and will have less in the way of results.

Try "noticing" niches instead of searching for them. Look at the most used topics on the front of magazines - watch what people are buying or interested in when you are shopping.

When I'm planning to add more niches I carry a small notepad with me everywhere and I write down thoughts as they occur. Once you start doing something like that - you'll find great niches everywhere.

The point is - start with ideas for niches. You can find dozens of ideas as you go through a normal day's activities. Listen to what friends are talking about or new products they are interested in. Consider niches of products and services you use frequently and see if there are potential profitable related niche ideas there.

THEN do quick keyword research and delete any niche ideas that don't have good searches. THEN look at competing sites, products available to sell, potential CPC for adsense, etc.

Start with ideas and narrow it from there by using keyword research - competition research - and the potential profit in the niche.

If you find "a good keyword" it's hard to build a niche around it - same is true if you find "a good product". Much better to start with a bunch of potential niche ideas and then narrow it from there.

If I have 100 niche ideas...it's likely only 5 or so will still be interesting after doing 30 minutes of research. Of those five remaining - I may built sites in only one or two of those niches.

It's like a "brain funnel" - dozens of possible niches in and just 2-3 good ones left standing at the end.

What happens is that when you do niche and then keyword research over and over and over....you begin to develop a "feel" for what will work and the process gets faster and easier.

EDIT: I also look at potential target market for each niche that is left at the end. Very important that it is something people want/need or have serious interest in. Otherwise, it's a "topic" and not a "niche".

I would NOT start writing PLR.

That's just a disaster waiting to happen: jumping onto the next shiny object because the one you're using just now isn't working.

You are a good writer, so essentially it comes down to 2 things: marketing and sales.

What makes you think you will be able to make any money of PLR if you haven't learned anything about marketing and sales, which is evident because what you're doing just now isn't working.

If I was you I'd soak up everything about marketing and sales, try to understand it, test it, tweak it, until you are able to get people to a website and sell them something.

Then you won't be asking what you can do to make money: you'll be able to use any method, get visitors, then turn them into customers.

And while you're learning these life changing skills, I'd be testing them out with affiliate products, moving onto product creation down the road when you've built up the "skills."

I agree with you, PLR are already banned by Amazon since Oct or Nov 2011 and a lot of people lost their business. Google is cracking on people not having original content and are working on algorithms to make it even worst, Clickbank is under pressure from FTC to do the same.
There are millions of PLR for free all over the places and should be used only as source of information for creating new products, not for trying to make money, spinning is not solving the problem of not being original content, on average only 50-60% is changed, which is not good enough. It is a high risk starting a PLR business, can be out of business anytime, same as on Amazon.

IM is constantly changing, must play smart by using our time and resources for what is working now and will in the future. People around IM in the last 10-15 years knows it. It was a good time to make money with Adsense and PLR, not anymore, are the less efficient and the most risky.

What is sad, newbies are manipulated by professional salespersons and misinformed by people with poor knowledge and limited experience which are trying to look knowledgeable, professional.

Here's another suggestion nobody has made yet:

Take your research and writing skills you have developed and create a PLR pack of 5-10 articles. This should be easy for you at the rate you've been writing so far.

You can add some bonuses in to your PLR pack if you want, something like keyword research for the niche that the articles target, or convert the articles to PowerPoint so people can easily use those on document sharing sites or convert them to video format.

List the PLR pack in JVZoo with high commissions. Many warriors recommend going all the way up to 100% for the purpose of building your list, or you can set it to 75% so you can at least earn a little off of that while building your list.

Launch it as a WSO and link to it with your signature.

Continue to write more awesome PLR packs and boadcast those out to your list.

After a while, you should be able to hire writers to help you create more PLR. You can also promote other people's PLR to your list as an affiliate.

You can also do a spin on this and do freelance writing or ghost writing instead. If you do that, don't sell yourself short by writing articles for cheap.

Thank you Danr62! I've never heard of PLR before today. Just checked out the definition and JVZoo. Do the articles have to be a certain length? If you're building a list, does that mean the PLR packs have to be of a similar topic i.e. if you sell a pack to someone on the subject of dieting, they won't be interested when you email them with your new PLR pack about how to trim toenails...

Yes, a PLR pack is on one subject or niche. You can have several packs on different niches, or you can build a whole site for PLR on one specific market and release only PLR packs for that market.

The reason you can have different packs for different niches on one site is because a lot of PLR buyers are in several niches themselves. Plus, if they aren't in that niche they can simply pass on that one, but they might still check your site out again to see if you've released anything that they might have missed before.

If you want to learn more about the PLR business, there are several warriors here who sell products on how to do it. Tiffany Dow is one that comes to the top of my head.

Each article should be at least 500 words, but you can also make them longer and sell them for more.

With my current earnings, I would need to set up at least 15 niche websites in 6 months, which is not realistic. Or is it?
It's very realistic - you could do many more than fifteen if you wanted.
You have enough good info in this thread to get where you need to be.

FIRST - take a couple days and learn to do good niche research! You need to be able to identify profitable niches that are neither too broad nor too narrow. It's a skill that only comes with learning the basics and with practice. Some niches will succeed - some won't. That's common.

The niches you choose, the keywords you use and quality content you add are the main keys to succeeding with the method you've chosen.

Adsense shouldn't be your only focus - but it's a good place to start. Yes, some people have problems - but many build small niche sites with bad content and expect miracles. Others use risky methods for traffic to get clicks and then are surprised when they get slapped.

You can add affiliate products and then your own products as you proceed in the months/years to come. You can always expand into other areas if you build quality sites to begin with.

To build on the PLR idea- you can set a limited number of sales.

For example, you can say that your pack of 5 weight loss articles for $5 will only be sold to 100 people.

If you sell all 100 packs, that's $350 for something that took you a few hours to do- not bad.

This is known as "limited PLR" and sells for more. The reason it is more valuable is because of Google's duplicate content filter. Google will only show one copy of an article in their results if it finds multiple copies, so if people want to rank for a term using PLR their best bet is to spend some time rewriting it.

So, if more people have the same PLR article it can be harder to rewrite it in a way that it won't get filtered out.

A number of people use the PLR for their email marketing or free ebooks for list building, so this isn't much of an issue for them. Others will use the PLR on their sites but will get traffic from other sources besides the search engines.

I'd say don't get hung up on all the hype or "latest secret method" type stuff, keep it simple and just do what you know works.

If you're workig on a site 7 hours a day how much of that is going on creation and how much is going on site promotion? Remember you can have a great site but you need visitors to make money.

You don't always need a ton of visitors though if you create your sites the right way and choose the right products to promote.

I find physical goods often convert better than digitally downloadable products but it does depend on the product, niche and other factors obviously.

Feel free to send me a pm or get in touch over at my site if you need any help.

Seriously Jodie, you have to eat and pay the bills. You don't want to wait too long and be ultra stressed when the money is almost gone. Step 1; replace the job. If IM goes well, you can always quit it.

That being said, I am a big believer in the to do list. Make a list every night about what you want to do the next day. Spend at least 2 hours every working day, 12 hours a week. Give both seeking a job and IM a chance and see what happens.
