Advice On Promoting My Site

Hello, I have spent an incredible amount of time, resources, money, and effort developing my site, seeksuccess.com. I have worked with employees, written over a year's worth of code, and put all of my efforts into this baby.

Right now, you are able to promote your own content and articles, and then make money on that with Google Adsense & Amazon Associates revenue sharing programs. I have struggled to build the amount of traffic I want, and also I have struggled in getting people commenting on articles so I have turned commenting off.

Do any of you out there have any advice on this subject? Would people be willing to go on my site and test out the article writing section and creating an account? I want to get people's valuable feedback about what they think can be improved, or even in general, I would like to get some advice on how exactly I am supposed to promote my site.

I would like to learn from other's experiences and all help is appreciated.

Just my 2 cents. I would focus on SEO for your website. You have a limited niche right now so you have to optimize it for the search engines. That way the people who are looking for what you have to offer know how to find you.

How long have you been developing your website? It may just need more time. No one said this was easy. But if certain strategies aren't working, don't keep doing them. Try something else. What about the use of social media? Do you know how to target your audience using those tools?

I have been developing this website for about 1 year and a half. What I have found and that I strongly believe in is that there are no shortcuts to making money online. Everyone that tells you otherwise is trying to sell you something. The only thing that really matters is providing real value to your website visitor. The content that seeksuccess has on the site is designed to help anyone who goes to the site learn something and to be beneficial and valuable.

It seems that your domain name and the content are not correlated.
For example, what have to do Fighting Back & Neck Pain with success from the point of search engines? Such content should be in something like seeking pain relief or seeking advise for...
Lets get back to the basics of IM
Step 1. Find a profitable niche.
    Step 2. Keyword research.
    and so on.

What is your niche? It is a farm of different issues.
The on page SEO optimization - if any - looks questionable with such content.

Google Adsense use to be good, not anymore, is the worst way to make money in IM.

You should create your own products (eBooks, videos...) related to the domain name and sell them on your web page, Clickbank to have an army of affiliates promoting your products, on WF, Amazon CreateSpace and KINDLE, also on NOOK, iBookstore, etc.
All products should have links to your web.
You must do a serious promotion, can start with YOUTUBE videos, articles, posting in forums and blogs with similar subject, etc.

    Success in your endeavor.

This whole idea of a 'niche' I am not sold on. I don't see any evidence that specializing in an idea, versus choosing a specific niche like dog training is any different. Show me some data that shows this is the case.

My website has an idea, a concept. That concept is to provide SELF IMPROVEMENT information to everyone. Information that is simple, to the point, effective, and that will significantly benefit (hopefully) anyone that comes to the site.

How to get a job, a girlfriend, to make money at a business, to learn from your mistakes, to work well with others and have decent friends. These are all subjects that we focus on. I personally feel that by teaching people simple techniques, it could be about stocks, or your credit score for example, that we can really help people and make a difference. That is the concept of the site. From this concept should flow the content.

        Lets start with this:
You said "My website has an idea, a concept."
You had an idea, a website cannot
have an idea because is not having a brain, cannot think.

It seems you are unfamiliar with IM and the way search engines works. Teoretically speaking your idea is making sens, but for online business is not so good how you implemented it. Even marketers in this forum are confuse about your work, ragdoll for example. See also getboris, visimedia, Myri, etc.
Are we all wrong and you the one wright?
People looks to our webs by typing in search engines to find what they need. Your domain name and the content are not matching, also your domain is too general.

You don't see any evidence...well the "evidence" is our own experience, some 15 years of trial and error in my case, learning that a great idea on paper and a great designed web page are not necessarily making good money.

Just try to look around and ask any multimillionaire person if they will agree with you or with me. Sent a PM to some skilled and honest people like hitesh93 or John Thornhill (multimillionaire) and see what will tell you.

A niche is the materialization of an idea you choose and apply based on research to see if there is a market, if there is buying interest, competition, etc. Some people use niches, others go deep into it using sub-niches.

Your domain is SEEKSUCCESS and you are telling that your idea is SELF IMPROVEMENT. Did you ever open a dictionary to see what definition is for SUCCESS and for SELF IMPROVEMENT?
SUCCESS - The achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted.
SELF IMPROVEMENT - The improvement of one's status, position, education, etc., by one's own efforts
        .

In addition you are talking about HOW TO...

Well, you have 3 totally different statements about your web site.

When you are so confusing, what about search engines?

I was trying to help in a previous post, but you keep arguing how great is your work. Sorry I wasted my time, you will not see me posting here again, it is a waste of time with you.
Online business is about having buyers, not just traffic. Google Adwords Keyword Tool is showing right now there are only 1,000 Global Monthly Searches for SEEK SUCCESS, poor chances to make money. There is not even traffic, 33 visitors a day for all fox having webs about seeking success.

Adsense and PLR are the worst ways to make money online, they were great in previous years, not anymore,IM is changing fast, even having an army of webs for Adsense. There are much better ways to make money and to have residual income without a lot of work and outsourcing.

I don't know all the answers which is precisely why I am talking about it on here. I simply wanted to let you know in response what the reasoning was behind the development of the site.

I know all of the concepts you speak of as far as niches and I have as well got a lot of experience in other types of IM. Yes, it is a difficult battle, and yes I would like to find the key to making a really profitable site.

What I want to get at though about niches is this. I have a hard time believing that it makes any difference whether you are a really specific niche or not. I have found that most websites fail period. Whether or not you can get traffic has to do with one things (backlinks). I have not found evidence that ebooks sell, and I have not found evidence that making money off of advertising yields much money at all unless you have an incredibly high amount of visitors.

What I have found is one thing in my experience; CASH_INCOME is_proportional_to TRAFFIC

The more traffic you have the more you can monetize your site. Now then, I am probably doing it all wrong, but all my experience leads to one CONCLUSION ONLY; that providing real value is the only way to make money. Google sure gives credit to value, and also bans people from Adwords and Adsense that try to do too many affiliate tricks.

I am all about learning, and yes, you are right, my site is very generalized. Perhaps this won't work, but you know what? Go look at hubpages, about.com, or squidoo, what are the niches of those web sites?

Not only that, at least I focus on 'self improvement.' Hubpages and squidoo accept all kinds of content.

And regarding no translation between 'seeksuccess' and 'self improvement.' These are just word games. When I purchased my domain, as well as the other 10 domains I own, I tried to find something that was simple and to the point, which is exactly what www.seeksuccess.com is.

I welcome your criticisms and accept the fact you are probably right, however, about seeksuccess being generalized. I went a certain direction with this business because I had a unique idea.

I listened to Gary Vaynerchuck's books and how he talked about providing value and making one really good website. I followed my gut and stuck to trying to create the umost in value.

I am all about learning and improving the site. Please do not hesitate to respond back with whatever other criticisms you might have.

          Sincerely,

          Justin Hansen

Well, I like your concept and website both.

But your Alexa ranking is unfortunately poor.

Consider working in the background. The idea I have might get you busy doin little bit changes in your website.

    1. Don't tell people that it is Revenue Sharing. Just tell them that they earn for sharing content.
    2. Add in TOS of your website that you will keep a portion of the earnings. Also you can mention in small fonts on the sign up page.

Doing this will not exactly misguide people but will keep their misconception away that revenue sharing don't work. Plainly because there are very big revenue sharing websites that have now shut down. Like nachofoto.com

There two types of websites in your category. One is with the hot content which attracts visitors daily like Drudge Report and another is a link-building site which is used mostly by SEO people and marketers. Link building articles always suck in their content so if you let people to publish their content you are not likely to attract people who will enjoy your site's content.

Since your content is all over the place you probably want to concentrate on really hot topics and get lot's social media backlinks to let search engines know that your content is hot but honestly I have a feeling that your marketing plan is too general.

Yes, I agree. You should have a more niche oriented web page. You should "clean it" a little, maybe split in 2 web domains, having links to each other.

The purpose of the site is to provide self improvement information to better yourself. All of the categories on the top such as Money, Health, Relationships, etc. Those pieces of content are designed to help teach you the web site visitor, or to provide you with simple and straightforward information to help improve yourself.

This is all done with revenue sharing in mind, so that people everyone can benefit from Adsense.

In my opinion, people tend to over complicate this whole thing. I own a teeth whitening review site and have done extensive research on how to promote your site. The most cost effective way is organic SEO. The reason many don't do it is because it takes a lot of leg work and a consistent disclipline. The other thing you need to remember is that the site needs to be about the consumer, not your business. With the new Panda update, they want autority sites. We have a great glo teeth whitening review on our site and I think it is a good example of what a comprehensive review looks like. It's all about your mindset and no tricks. Do the right thing for the consumer and you will cause your site to grow. Feel free to seacrch throuhh my teeth whitening review site and see how we go about achieving this and feel free to send me an email if you need anything.

Your site has a lot of topics (even under the one umbrella). I see the shotgun method of marketing versus the rifle. I would bet on the rifle unless you have a huge monthly marketing budget.

Also, people tend to have 1-2 interests, not 7.

I could see it really being 7 different, rifled, pinpointed sites. You could differentiate traffic, monetization and participation better.

Heck, you might end up shutting 5 down and focus on the 2 stellar ones.

      Just my $.02

cool site, I would suggest forming relationships with press agents, editors, high traffic blogs, news sites, niche magazines, trade journals and seeing if you can get some eyeballs on a high quality article or some nice content. That has worked very well for us in the past.

I am sure it will work well for you niche also. Article syndication for us is working far better than BUM MARKETING every worked, and I am dead serious about that. Alexa on here in the forum has crazy good info on the subject, but when you utilize it it will do wonders. Just makes sure you are sending traffic to some sort of a squeeze page and sell them softly.

    Hope it helps.

First of all, I would just like to day BRAVO on the website. It looks fantastic and the domain fits it perfectly.

As for advertising, I would say get known throughout the forums. some light PPC with relevant keywords and low cost per click, blog postings, concentrate hard on optimizing to rank high in the search engines, and possibly seek out some joint venture partners.

Best success on it, I have bookmarked it and I hope it takes off big!

I also want to point out that my site, Self Help - Revenue Sharing - Personal Improvement | SeekSuccess, is designed to help everyone out there.

I want all of you to put your own content on the site. I want the other internet marketers out there to put their content on my site and to be successful.

I have worked really hard at this and I came to the conclusion the best business model is where you can create a win-win scenario for your customers and the business.

Feel free to sign up and give it a shot. I will do everything in my power and professional experience if you do sign up to make sure that you are as successful as possible promoting your content on my site.

The only thing I have to say about this is that only HIGH quality content will be accepted. So if you want to write a review about your business or site, make sure it is a good review that provides value and benefit to the reader.

      Good luck!

Remember, we also have an article directory

Once your article gets approved, your article will show up in the article directory.

I also want to mention that most of our content can get ranked on Google very fast at #1. The reason this is the case is because I am very very careful about the content on the site, and want to make sure it is top notch.

If any of you want to give it a shot, go ahead and create an account and start publishing!

If I were you, I would focus strongly on what your content providers are going to experience, before trying to find more content providers.

From what I can see, people who have interest in participating don't have an "in your face" landing page, or a home for themselves KWIM? SO, if you get a bunch of content providers to show up, they have to hunt around your page to find out why they are there.

They need a "home" explaining exactly what you just told us regarding the purpose of your site. Maybe make put that FAQ stuff easier to find.....or perhaps you do have a second site that recruits the writers, and then this site focuses solely on the articles and recruiting people interested only in reading them.

I think...your niche is IM/writers who want to make money from sharing content, no? so the people saying you have no niche are off base - its just not as simple as "abs" or "green beans" or whatever.

Great looking site, and I hope you understand what I am trying to say - several of the people above are people who you might want using your site, and a lot of people "didn't get it."

Nice looking site. As your focus right now is to get more content providers I would suggest replacing current slider with some sort of promotional slider or video that urges visitors to sign up.
    Good luck with the site.

Yup, I am all about building backlinks right now. If anyone has any suggestions on where to go or what to do to increase traffic and get good, high quality backlinks, let me know. Thanks.

I have just set fixed the article directory link which for some odd reason wasn't pointing to the right location on WF because of a line break and or space? Anyways, you can now access the article directory
